Vibration reduction control of a voice coil motor (VCM)-driven actuator for SPM applications
International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2009This paper presents vibration reduction control of a voice coil motor (VCM)-driven actuator for SPM applications. We had developed a VCM nanoscanner. The scanner has flexure hinges structure. However, the VCM nanoscanner has some problems of thermal drift and small damping compared to the PZT driven nanoscanner.

Evaluation of the dynamic properties of a Voice Coil Motor (VCM)
2007 14th International Conference on Mechatronics and Machine Vision in Practice, 2007The electrical and mechanical characteristics of a voice coil linear motor under moving conditions are evaluated using a method based on the levitation mass method (LMM). The force generated by the actuator is measured as the inertial force of the mass, which is levitated with sufficiently small friction using a pneumatic linear bearing.

The state feedback-based position controller for the voice coil motor(VCM) used in precise automated manufacturing processes is proposed and analyzed in this paper. The proposed controller has advantage over the conventional cascade-type P-PI controller in terms of the gain selection and the controller interference.
