Voice transformation is the process of transforming the characteristics of speech uttered by a source speaker, such that a listener would believe the speech was uttered by a target speaker. In this paper we address the problem of transforming voice quality. We do not attempt to transform prosody.

Logopedics Phoniatrics Vocology, 2009
In Noh, a traditional performing art of Japan, extremely expressive voice quality is used to convey an emotional message. A periodicity of voice appears responsible for these special effects. Acoustic signals were recorded for selected portions of dramatic singing in order to study the acoustic effects of delicate voice control by a master of the ...

Dimensionality in Voice Quality
Journal of Voice, 2007This study concerns speaking voice quality in a group of male teachers (n = 35) and male actors (n = 36), as the purpose was to investigate normal and supranormal voices. The goal was the development of a method of valid perceptual evaluation for normal to supranormal and resonant voices.

On voice quality of IP Voice over GPRS
2000 IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo. ICME2000. Proceedings. Latest Advances in the Fast Changing World of Multimedia (Cat. No.00TH8532), 2002We consider the voice quality of IP Voice over a GPRS connection. We investigate how different speech codecs fit into GPRS packet data channels and the resulting subjective voice quality in a number of test cases.

Voice morphing is a technique for modifying a source speaker's speech to sound as if it was spoken by some designated target speaker. Most of the recent approaches to voice morphing apply a linear transformation to the spectral envelope and pitch scaling to modify the prosody.

Voice Quality Assessment and Visualization
2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems, 2012Commercial voice analysis systems are expensive and complicated. These equipments are only available at medical centers and need to be operated by well trained physicians. Thus the treatment costs of speech disorders are usually high. To improve this situation, we develop a software system dedicated to the assessment of human voice qualities.

Acoustic characteristics of voice quality
Speech Communication, 1992Abstract Subtle variations in voice (phonatory) quality may reveal aspects of the speaker's mood and attitude, and are thus an important aspect of speaking style. This paper illustrates current research being carried out by the authors on the voice source correlates of a range of such quality differences.
