Hierarchical structure of the cosmic web and galaxy properties [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, Volume 527, Issue 2, pp.4087-4099, January 2024, 2023
Voids possess a very complex internal structure and dynamics. Using $N$-body simulations we study the hierarchical nature of sub-structures present in the cosmic web (CW). We use the SpineWeb method which provides a complete characterization of the CW into its primary constituents: voids, walls, filaments, and nodes.

Mechanical, Thermal Properties and Void Characteristics of Bamboo Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Resin Composites Prepared by Vacuum-Assisted Resin Transfer Molding Process

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2023
This study aimed to examine the effect of epoxy resin (EP) systems on the impregnation of bamboo fibers (BFs) by EP and the properties of BF/EP composites prepared by vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process.

Use of the mar-lin criteria to determine the influence of porosity on the iosipescu and short beam shear properties in carbon fiber polymer matrix composites

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2010
To address a critical aspect of the fast growing use of composites in aircraft and aerospace industry, the influence of the porosity on the shear strength of composites property was investigated as a mean for determining the critical values of porosity ...

Determination of flow front velocity and optimal injection pressures for better impregnation of E-glass with polyester in resin transfer mold [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin, 2019
Flow front velocity of resin plays a key role in yielding better impregnation of fiber reinforcement in resin transfer molding to fabricate quality composites. A video camera was used to capture the patterns of resin flowing below the grid lines drawn on

Phase field modelling voids nucleation and growth in binary systems [PDF]

open access: yesCondens. Matter Phys., 2018, vol. 21, No. 1, 13002, 2018
We present a comprehensive study of voids formation, nucleation and growth in a prototype model of binary alloys subjected to irradiation by using a combined approach based on phase field and rate theories. It is shown that voids formation is caused by interaction of irradiation-produced vacancies through elastic deformation of a lattice and vacancy ...

Effects of void shape and location on the fracture and plastic deformation of Cu (crystalline) /Cu64Zr36 (amorphous) composites

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Voids are probably the most widely studied type of manufacturing defects since they are often formed during material processing. In this paper, the fracture and plastic deformation of Cu/Cu64Zr36 crystalline/amorphous composites with different void ...

Mixing-demixing transition and void formation in quasi-2D binary mixtures on a sphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Motivated by observations of heterogeneous domain structure on the surface of cells and vesicles and by domain formation due to the adsorption of complex molecules onto composite membranes, we consider a minimal quasi 2D-model to describe the structure of binary mixtures on the surface of a spherical particle.
