Catecholamine content of the initial voided urine of the newborn

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1964
Abstract 1. 1. The catecholamine content of the initial voiding by newborns was determined by bioassay. 2. 2. The urine of infants delivered by outlet forceps contained significantly larger amounts of catecholamines than infants delivered spontaneously and by cesarean section. 3. 3.

Sensitivity of rutting and moisture resistance of asphalt mixes to gradation and design air void content

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2018
Bituminous mixes are generally designed with gradation and air void content ranges adopted by different agencies. The selected gradation and binder content are permitted to vary within specified tolerance limits.

Effect of Vibrations on Void Content in Composite Materials

Advanced Materials Research, 2008
Eliminating common defects such as voids, bubbles and poor adhesion at interfaces will increase the quality of laminated sandwich composite structure. We are experimenting and analyzing the effect of mechanical vibrations applied to the curing system of composite materials production, particularly on minimizing void content.

Connected Air Voids Content in Permeable Friction Course Mixtures

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2009
Abstract Current hot mix asphalt (HMA) mix design procedures used to determine the optimum asphalt content for permeable or porous friction course (PFC) mixtures are based primarily on total air void (AV) content. Durability and functionality of PFC mixtures are also related to the total AV content.

Effects of Asphalt Content and Air Void Content on Mix Fatigue and Stiffness

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 1996
The primary objective of most procedures for asphalt concrete mix design is to find an asphalt content that minimizes the possibility of stability failure while providing adequate fatigue and other durability characteristics. To date, the consequences of asphalt content selection and construction compaction on fatigue performance and flexural ...

Analyzing bulk density and void fraction: B. Effect of moisture content and compression pressure

, 2020
This study analyzes the effect of moisture content and compression pressure on bed void fraction in different materials. The void fractions of several materials, both spherical and non-spherical, solid and porous, with different particle sizes and ...

Effects of void size and gas content on electrical breakdown in lightweight, mechanically compliant, void-filled dielectrics

Journal of Applied Physics, 2002
Dielectric potting materials (encapsulants) are used to prevent air breakdown in high-voltage electrical devices. We report breakdown strengths in void-filled encapsulants, stressed with unipolar voltage pulses of the order of 10 μs duration. High strengths, on the order of 100 kV mm−1, are measured under these test conditions.

Relationship Between Particle Shape and Void Content of Fine Aggregate

Cement, Concrete, and Aggregates, 2004
Abstract Fine aggregate characteristics have an important influence on water demand and related properties of concrete. Several test methods for measurement of fine aggregate angularity are reported in the literature. These tests typically provide a single number that represents the bulk, or average angularity of the sand.

Determining Air Void Content of Compacted Hot-Mix Asphalt Mixtures

Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2002
A project to develop a new method or adapt a current method with wide applicability for determining bulk specific gravity of compacted hot-mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures ( Gmb) is described. A more reliable Gmb would result in more reliable HMA volumetric properties, specifically, percent air voids.

Effect of void content on the strength of composite laminates

Composite Structures, 1994
Abstract An experimental program was conducted to assess the effect of void content on the static strength and fatigue life of composite laminates under flexural loading. The fabrication procedure used to produce carbon/epoxy laminates with reasonably uniform void content and constant fiber fraction is described.
