On ductile fracture initiation toughness: Effects of void volume fraction, void shape and void distribution

International Journal of Solids and Structures, 2005
Abstract This paper studies the effects of the initial relative void spacing, void pattern, void shape and void volume fraction on ductile fracture toughness using three-dimensional, small scale yielding models, where voids are assumed to pre-exist in the material and are explicitly modeled using refined finite elements.

Void volume fraction of granular scaffolds

Small, 2022
AbstractVoid volume fraction (VVF) of granular biomaterials is a global measurement frequently used to characterize void space. There is currently no gold standard for measuring the VVF of granular scaffolds made in lab. To help the biomaterials field, we provide a library of different simulated scaffolds with known VVF for easy look-up.

Effect of void fraction on capacitance of sensor for void fraction measurement

European Journal of Mechanics - B/Fluids, 2021
Abstract Capacitance sensor is a non-intrusive devices used for the void fraction measurement in two-phase flows. Capacitance sensor is formed by two electrodes placed at the outside walls of a dielectric pipe, through which a two-phase medium flows. The capacitance of the sensor depends on the geometric arrangement of electrodes and distribution of ...
