A model for predicting the relationship between maximum voidage in homogeneous fluidization and emulsion phase voidage in bubbling fluidization.

open access: yesJOURNAL OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING OF JAPAN, 1989
A model was proposed to describe the expansion behavior of a gas fluidized bed of fine particles by using the elastic wave velocity. The difference between the maximum bed voidage in homogeneous fluidized beds, emb, and the emulsion-phase voidage in bubbling beds, ee could be explained by the proposed model.

Buoyancy Profile Inhibition of Turbulence in Nearly Vertical Bubbly Shear Flow

open access: yesNUST Journal of Engineering Sciences, 2008
We report mea.sUICJD.CD.ts of two-dimensional (B/D::S) fully tw:bulent and developed duct flows (overall length/depth. IlD=60; D-based Reynolds number Re>104) for inclinations to 30 degrees from vertical at low voidagcs (

Investigation into the hydrodynamics of liquid-solid inclined micro-fluidized beds

open access: yesResources Chemicals and Materials, 2022
The inclined micro-fluidized bed (MFB) can enhance heat and mass transfer rates compared to the vertically aligned counterparts, but the increased significance of surface forces and wall effects may cause poor fluidization performance. In this paper, the

Terminal settling velocity of solids in the pseudoplastic non-Newtonian liquid system – Experiment and ANN modeling

open access: yesChemical Engineering Journal Advances, 2021
The terminal settling velocity (TSV) of solid particles is experimentally determined in fluidizing columns. In monodispersed (single component) systems, the bed expansion behavior has been experimented with using pseudoplastic liquids.

Study of gas–solid contact characteristics in a vertical sinter fixed bed using a resolved CFD–DEM method

open access: yes工程科学学报
Ensuring full contact between hot sinters and cooling gas is the key premise for the widespread application of vertical sinter cooling technology at an industrial scale.

Effects of particle size and content of RDX on burning stability of RDX-based propellants

open access: yesDefence Technology, 2022
Particle size and content of RDX are the two main factors that affect the burning stability of RDX-based propellants. However, these effects and the corresponding mechanisms are still controversial.

Hydrodynamic Study of a Circulating Fluidized Bed at High Temperatures: Application to Biomass Gasification

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 2018
Experimental data on the hydrodynamic behavior of dense and circulating fluidized beds at high temperatures are scarce in the literature. This work deals with the hydrodynamic study of a Fast Internally Circulating Fluidized Bed (FICFB) used for biomass ...

Gas and solid behaviours during defluidisation of Geldart-A particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Bed collapsing experiments were carried out in a cold-air transparent column 192 mm in diameter and 2 m high. Typical Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst with a mean particle size of 76 μm and a density of 1400 kg/m3 was used.

Integral Experiments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Lab‐Scale Liquid Distributors

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Four lab‐scale liquid distributors were evaluated based on the homogeneity of the resulting liquid distribution. The best‐performing design reduced maldistribution and wall flow compared to a single‐point liquid distribution and remained stable under varying operating conditions, including different gas and liquid loads.

Solvent‐Based Spray Coating in Pneumatic Conveying in a Dedicated Spray Chamber Using Rapid Prototyping Created Nozzles

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Combining the coating and transportation of particles into a single process step promises time savings and omits the need for separate coating equipment. Experiments were conducted using a vacuum pneumatic conveying system equipped with custom rapid‐prototyped nozzles and coating chambers.
