High-Frequency Electromagnetic Induction (HFEMI) Sensor Results from IED Constituent Parts

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The detection and classification of subsurface improvised explosive devices (IEDs) remains one of the most pressing military and civilian problems worldwide. These IEDs are often intentionally made with either very small metallic parts or less-conducting

Position‐dependent offset corrections for ring applicator reconstruction in cervical cancer brachytherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Due to the tight curvature in their design, ring applicators are usually associated with large positioning errors. The standard practice to correct for these deviations based on global offsets may not be sufficient to comply with the recommended tolerance.

Numerical simulation of self-piercing riveting process (SRP) using continuum damage mechanics modelling

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2018
The extended Bonora damage model was used to investigate joinability of materials in self-piercing riveting process. This updated model formulation accounts for void nucleation and growth process and shear-controlled damage which is critical for shear ...

Effect of Initial Porosity on Material Response Under Multi-Axial Stress State for S235JR Steel

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering, 2012
The effect of the initial porosity on the material response under multi-axial stress state for S235JR steel using the Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN) material model was examined.

Comprehensive clinical evaluation of novel 4DCT‐based lung function imaging methods

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Methods have been developed that apply image processing to 4DCTs to generate 4DCT‐ventilation/perfusion lung imaging. Traditional methods for 4DCT‐ventilation rely on Hounsfield‐Unit (HU) density‐change methods and suffer from poor numerical robustness while not providing 4DCT‐perfusion data.

An extension to the OVH concept for knowledge‐based dose volume histogram prediction in lung tumor volumetric‐modulated arc therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Volumetric‐modulated arc therapy (VMAT) treatment planning allows a compromise between a sufficient coverage of the planning target volume (PTV) and a simultaneous sparing of organs‐at‐risk (OARs). Particularly in the case of lung tumors, deciding whether it is possible or worth spending more time on further improvements of a treatment

Plane Waves in Thermo-Viscoelastic Material with Voids Under Different Theories of Thermoelasticity

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2019
Propagation of time harmonic plane waves in an infinite thermo-viscoelastic material with voids has been investigated within the context of different theories of thermoelasticity.

Implementation of needle‐tracking technology for real‐time transrectal ultrasound‐guided interstitial gynecological HDR brachytherapy: A feasibility study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To investigate the feasibility of adapting a commercial prostate biopsy system for transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)‐guided hybrid gynecological (GYN) high‐dose‐rate (HDR) brachytherapy (BT). Leveraging 3D‐TRUS and MR image fusion, the prototype system aims to improve real‐time needle placement accuracy.

Response Due to Concentrated Force in Micropolar Elastic Solid with Voids

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2014
The eigen value approach, following Laplace and Fourier transforms has been employed to find the general solution of the field equation in a micropolar elastic solid with voids for the plane strain problem.

Properties of Voids and Void Galaxies in the TNG300 Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We investigate the properties of voids and void galaxies in the \texttt{TNG300} simulation. Using a luminous galaxy catalog and a spherical void finding algorithm, we identify 5,078 voids at redshift $z = 0$. Within the voids, mass does not directly trace light.
