Fluidized bed combustion of high-volatile solid fuels: an assessment of char attrition and volatile matter segregation

open access: yes, 1999
A simple lumped-parameter model of a bubbling fluidized bed combustor fuelled with high-volatile solid fuels is presented. The combustor is divided into three sections: the dense bed, the splashing region and the freeboard.

Controlled Growth of Boron Nitride in Various Phases

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Phase‐selective boron nitride growth is presented as a unified materials‐design problem across hexagonal, rhombohedral, cubic, and amorphous phases. By linking synthesis routes to thermodynamic stability, kinetic accessibility, surface diffusion, interfacial templating, and energetic activation, this review clarifies how bonding and stacking are ...

From Surface to Bulk Activation: Tailoring the Porosity and Surface Chemistry of Resorcinol‐Formaldehyde Carbon Sorbents for Atmospheric Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A bulk activation route to produce nanoporous carbons for atmospheric water harvesting by incorporating potassium hydroxide during resorcinol‐formaldehyde polycondensation. These high‐oxygen sorbents deliver daily water yields up to 23 L kg−1 day−1 with great cyclability, providing a scalable solution for water production in diverse climates.

Voltage-Driven Non-Volatile Interconversion Between Giant Single-Domain and Multidomain Magnetic States in a Multiferroic Heterostructure. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
Non‐volatile voltage control of magnetic configurations is achieved in a strain‐coupled multiferroic heterostructure. Voltage pulses reversibly interconvert giant single‐domain and multidomain magnetic states, which remain stable at zero applied voltage. ABSTRACT Voltage control of magnetic states in multiferroic heterostructures represents a promising
