The geranium essential oil (EO) nanoemulsion was incorporated into fucoidan‐whey protein film. Active fucoidan‐whey protein film showed higher mechanical, antioxidant, and water barrier properties. Fucoidan‐whey protein film loaded with geranium EO nanoemulsion exhibited antimicrobial and antifungal activities.

Atomic force microscopy enables precise evaluation of the magnitude and range of hydrophobic and van der Waals interactions. This primer presents a protocol for fluorocarbon functionalization of gold surfaces and examines how water: DMSO mixtures affect hydrophobic forces, with data interpreted through an extended van der Waals model.

Pulsed electrooxidation combined with magnetic biochar adsorption achieved up to 98.9% Hg(II) removal from synthetic water. Optimal conditions (pH‐6.03, 34.15 min, 1.55 g/L biochar, 0.43 A, 227 mg/L Hg) enhanced efficiency beyond electrooxidation alone, demonstrating a synergistic, energy‐efficient treatment approach.

Hydrogel sampling device for the capture, stabilisation and analysis of volatile thiols [PDF]
This thesis is concerned with the formulation and preparation of hydrogels for the subsequent application as a device to capture and stabilise volatile thiols contained within sweat. Using the well documented ability of hydrogels to absorb both water and small molecules, the absorption storage and extraction of thiol solutions was investigated. \ud \ud
