Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Are Some Fungal Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) Mycotoxins?
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are carbon-compounds that easily evaporate at room temperature. Toxins are biologically produced poisons; mycotoxins are those toxins produced by microscopic fungi.

High‐Performance Recycling Biobased Photopolymers for 3D Printing
By using biobased phenols like eugenol, novel biobased photopolymers containing dissociative phenol‐carbamate bonds are designed for 3D printing. Meanwhile, a “mixed‐monomer assisted recycling” strategy is proposed to recycle the materials. The resulting materials not only achieve high‐performance and excellent chemical recyclability simultaneously ...

A General Procedure for the Regioselective Synthesis of Aryl Thioethers and Aryl Selenides Through C–H Activation of Arenes [PDF]
A general procedure for the synthesis of aryl thioethers and aryl selenides in one-pot through sequential iridium-catalyzed C–H borylation and copper-promoted C–S and C–Se bond formation is described.

A Catalytic Osmium Redox Couple Collapses Cancer Redox Balance
A stable Os(III)/Os(IV) redox couple is developed to disrupt the tumor cell redox balance by concurrently catalyzing ROS generation and GSH depletion. Osmium‐treated cells exhibit multiple cell death pathways, including apoptosis, ferroptosis, and immunogenic cell death.

Nitrogen catabolic repression controls the release of volatile thiols bySaccharomyces cerevisiaeduring wine fermentation [PDF]
Volatile thiols such as 4-methyl-4-sulfanylpentan-2-one (4MSP) and 3-sulfanylhexan-1-ol (3SH) are aromatic molecules having an important organoleptic impact on white wines. These components are produced from inodorous nonvolatile cysteinylated precursors by Saccharomyces cerevisiae metabolic activity during alcoholic fermentation. Here we provide a new

The integration of ROS‐generating systems with H2S depletion strategies effectively overcomes the limitations imposed by endogenous antioxidant defenses on ROS‐based antimicrobial therapies. In this study, the Cu‐MOF is incorporated into pillararene‐embedded COF, achieving a “three‐in‐one” antimicrobial effect that markedly alleviated periodontal ...

Intracellular Hg(0) Oxidation in Desulfovibrio desulfuricans ND132 [PDF]
The disposal of elemental mercury (Hg(0)) wastes in mining and manufacturing areas has caused serious soil and groundwater contamination issues. Under anoxic conditions, certain anaerobic bacteria can oxidize dissolved elemental mercury and convert the ...
