Giant Porphyry Copper Deposits Caused by a Slab Jamming in the Mantle Transition Zone
ABSTRACT Two giant porphyry copper deposits in the Southern Central Andes formed during the Miocene–Pliocene transition when a bend in the subducting Juan de Fernández hotspot chain jammed in the mantle transition zone, causing mega‐scale slab‐kinking. This geometry implies mechanical resistance that caused East–West compression and eventually a thrust‐

ORMDL proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) negatively regulate serine palmitoyltransferase (SPT) activity in response to the rate of de novo sphingolipid synthesis. Disruption of ceramide homeostasis by myriocin or fumonisin B1 (FB1) appears to destabilize the ORMDL‐SPT complex, leading to ORMDL degradation as a feedback mechanism.

Atmospheric Dynamics of IR‐Active Particles Released From Mars' Surface
Abstract Surface release of radiatively active particles, with high infrared‐ (IR‐)to‐visible extinction ratios, has been proposed as a method of warming Mars. However, to warm Mars using aerosols, particles released locally must disperse globally. Here we provide an initial reference study in a plume tracking, dry Martian atmospheric model to address ...

Abstract Pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) are gravity currents that frequently form during explosive volcanic eruptions. These ground‐hugging density currents consist of high‐temperature mixtures of pyroclasts (e.g., ash, pumice), lithics, and gas.

Abstract Aerosol‐cloud interactions are a major source of uncertainty in estimating anthropogenic effective radiative forcing. Although warm polluted clouds have been studied to investigate the influence of aerosols on clouds, studies on mixed‐phase polluted clouds are limited. Here we performed Large Eddy Simulations of mixed‐phase clouds with various
