The coulomb stress changes for correlation analysis of tectonic earthquake activity and volcanic of the 2001–2010 Merapi eruption based on focal mechanism data

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2023
The incident of increased seismic activity of the Merapi volcano was initiated by several tectonic earthquake phenomena. Analysis of the mechanism of tectonic earthquakes can be studied based on the combination of static stress on the rock.

Machine Learning for Volcano-Seismic Signals: Challenges and Perspectives [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Magazine, 2018
Environmental monitoring is a topic of increasing interest, especially concerning the matter of natural hazards prediction. Regarding volcanic unrest, effective methodologies along with innovative and operational tools are needed to monitor, mitigate, and prevent risks related to volcanic hazards.

Tidal effects in the seismicity of Avachinsky volcano

open access: yesRussian Journal of Seismology, 2023
The gravitational interaction between the Earth, the Moon and the Sun is of a periodic nature, acting on a global scale and causing terrestrial and sea tides. The study of seismicity variations associated with lunisolar tides is a traditional task of seismology.

Combination of CO 2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ storage and geothermal energy production in porous and fractured superhot geothermal systems

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract depicts the workflow for porous‐ and fractured‐media simulations, where stochastically generated discrete natural fractures are required for the fracture‐media simulation. Abstract CO 2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$ leakage is one of the main risks and barriers to geologic carbon storage. However, under the high‐temperature and high‐pressure

Multiphase Tectonic Process With Slab Dynamics in the Northern East China Sea Shelf Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Megasequence 1 characterised by Palaeocene extension and differential subsidence driven by the rollback of the subducting Izanagi Plate. Megasequence 2 records a kinematic reorganisation of the East Asian margin, transition from a rifting to a compressional regime.

Subglacial volcano monitoring with fibre-optic sensing: Grímsvötn, Iceland

open access: yesVolcanica, 2023
We present a distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) experiment at Grímsvötn, Iceland. This is intended to investigate volcano-microseismicity at Grímsvötn specifically, and to assess the suitability of DAS as a subglacial volcano monitoring tool in general ...

Seismic Sequence Stratigraphy Applied to Reservoir Recognition and Evolution on Marine Carbonatic Ramp—Macaé Group (Albian to Cenomanian) of Campos Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A classic oil producing interval of the Campos Basin—Macaé Group is revisited through seismic stratigraphic analysis, providing a stratigraphic framework, characteristic depositional and relative time positioning for several complex structural settings.

Self‐Similarity of Seismic Moment Release to Volume Change Scaling for Volcanoes: A Comparison With Injection‐Induced Seismicity

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2022
Estimates of intruded magma volume are critical for forecasting volcanic unrest. Geodetic modeling can provide such estimates but is of limited use in submarine and highly vegetated settings.

Effects of Ambient Moisture and Large‐Strain Dynamic Preloading on the Dynamic Properties of the EAC‐1A Regolith Simulant

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The EAC‐1A lunar mare simulant, a silty sand, was selected by the European Astronaut Center (EAC) for use in the LUNA analogue facility's lunar simulation testbed. Its stress‐ and strain‐dependent shear modulus and damping ratio were determined via resonant column testing on specimens prepared either from ambient moisture material or oven ...
