Changes in volemia and natremia and onset of sodium appetite in sodium depleted rats

Physiology and Behavior, 1977
Rats depleted of sodium by the IP injection of 10% b.w. of isotonic glucose for 30 min, developed a specific sodium appetite. The blood volume decreased 16% of the control value immediately after the treatment, returning to normal levels 2 to 4 hr later.

Impact of volemia at admission on the effect of collateral status on functional outcomes in patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy

European Journal of Neurology, 2023
AbstractBackground and purposeHaving good collaterals is associated with better clinical outcomes in patients undergoing endovascular thrombectomy. This study aims to evaluate whether the effect of collateral status on functional outcomes is modified by volemia at admission.MethodsThis is a single‐center, retrospective analysis of patients who had ...

Hypotension in spinal anesthesia: predictive factors, prevention and volemia’s non-invasive estimation methods

Moldovan Journal of Health Sciences, 2023
Introduction. Evaluation of patient volemia arriving at a medical service today still represents a challenge for specialists, especially in those who need surgical and anesthetic intervention. One of the most common systemic side effect to anesthesia is hypotension.

Physiological Cybernetics: Model of Osmolality and Volemia

Proceedings of the 44th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2006
The models of osmolarity and volemia are proposed in this paper. These two different models, characterized by a different time scale, represent a typical example of embedded physiological feedback control in medicine. Extensive simulation tests have been performed, showing that the models agree with the findings published in the literature of endocrine

Renal Kallikrein System, Volemia, and Renal Hypertension

Mayo Clinic Proceedings, 1977
Plasma, blood, and urine volumes, renal kallikrein, and arterial pressure were measured in control and renal hypertensive rats in order to study the role of the renal kallikrein system in regulating arterial pressure and its relation with the alterations in water handling observed in hypertension. A decrease in kallikrein content of the kidney (157 +/-

Effect of atriopeptin III on hematocrit and volemia of nephrectomized rats

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1986
The effect of a synthetic atrial natriuretic peptide (atriopeptin III) on blood pressure, heart rate, and hematocrit was investigated in conscious, nephrectomized (n = 6), and sham-operated (n = 6) rats. Atriopeptin III infusion (1 microgram/min iv for 30 min) decreased mean blood pressure to a similar extent in nephrectomized [from 122 +/- 5 to 108 +/

[Interpretation of volemia in acute kidney injury].

Revue medicale suisse, 2014
Assessment of volume status is often challenging in daily clinical practice. One of the clinician's tasks is to prevent or to treat organ systems failures that arise from a mismatch between the transport of oxygen and metabolic needs. Renal failure is a frequently encountered in-hospital diagnosis that is known to alter significantly the prognosis.
