From legitimate to illegitimate violence: Violations of the experimenter's instructions in Stanley Milgram's “obedience to authority” studies

open access: yesPolitical Psychology, Volume 47, Issue 2, April 2026.
Abstract Stanley Milgram's Obedience to authority experiments are widely known to have demonstrated the human proclivity to follow violent orders coming from a legitimate authority. The present paper examines the extent to which Milgram's participants, during the obedient phase of their sessions, did in fact follow the full set of instructions that was

Fast and Slow Signal Propagation in Abiotic Polypeptide Assemblies

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
Proteinoid microspheres formed by thermal polymerization of amino acids exhibit spontaneous electrical potential fluctuations without genetic material, membranes, or ion channels. Multi‐electrode recordings and electron microscopy reveal composition‐dependent voltage oscillations, long‐term drifts, and correlated signals across electrodes.

Electroreduction of CO2 From Flue Gas: Impurity Tolerance and Mechanistic Insights in Molecular Catalysis

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
Impurity‐tolerance exhibited by Re molecular complex for CO2 conversion from flue gas containing 10% CO2, 10% O2, 100 ppm NO2 and 50 ppm SO2 in N2 matrix. This tolerance is based on electrochemical reduction of gas impurities on the electrode surface under CO2 electrolysis conditions.

Resonant Vibrational Excitation and Overtone Vibrational Emissions of Nitric Oxide (NO) in Sub‐Auroral Ion Drift (SAID) Region: A Source of STEVE Continuum Emission

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 5, 16 March 2026.
Abstract At elevated electron temperature (Te≥3000°K ${T}_{e}\mathit{\ge }3000\mathit{{}^{\circ}}\mathrm{K}$) inside Sub‐Auroral Ion Drift, resonant vibrational excitation (RVE) increases the vibrationally excited (v≥8 $v\mathit{\ge }8$) nitric oxide (NO) population in the E‐region, which undergoes overtone vibrational emissions (Δv≥8 ${\Delta }v ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 5, 4 March 2026.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.
