PHOTOINDUCED VOLTA POTENTIAL IN A PORPHYRIN MONOLAYER

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 1987
Abstract— When spread on an oxidizing aqueous subphase, an amphipathic basket handle zinc porphyrin (P) monolayer gives rise to a photoinduced Volta potential change. This surface photopotential is interpreted on the basis of an interfacial electron transfer in the interphase; upon light excitation, electrons are transferred from the chromophores in ...

Volta potential analysis of intermetallics in 7A52 aluminum alloy

Journal of Wuhan University of Technology-Mater. Sci. Ed., 2012
In order to study the effect of intermaetallics on the corrosion behaviour of 7A52 aluminum alloy, the alloy was characterized by means of SEM-EDS and scanning Kelvin probe force microscopy(SKPFM). The experimental results indicate that there are two different intermetallics:Al-Mn-Fe and Mg2Si.

Investigations on volta potentials in water-nitrobenzene systems and on surface potentials of these solvents

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1983
Abstract The dynamic condenser method has been used for determination of Volta potentials in water-nitrobenzene partition systems, δ nw wn ψ (MX), as well as determining the difference between surface potentials Δ nw wn χ of both solvents. Values of Δ nw wn ψ o for several electrolytes have been measured and mutual consistency of these date ...

Laser Effects on Volta Potential Transients Recorded by a Kelvin Probe

ECS Electrochemistry Letters, 2013
A laser beam focused beneath a Kelvin probe needle allows for evaluation of laser-induced Volta potential shifts that can be used to identify (ir)reversible structural rearrangements at the sample surface. This work investigates the impact of laser irradiation on different substrate materials and the influence of laser power and wavelength to explore ...

Volta Potential on Stainless Steel Under Mechanical Stress Conditions

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2014
It is well documented fact that mechanical work or surface treatment creates stresses in the metal. In corrosive environment the stress can lead to stress corrosion cracking and failure of the metal construction. It is often supposed that stress influences the properties of the surface oxide film by creating defects like metal vacancies and thus ...

Application of Volta potential mapping to determine metal surface defects

Electrochimica Acta, 2007
Abstract As a rule, stress or fatigue cracks originate from various surface imperfections, such as pits, inclusions or locations showing a residual stress. It would be very helpful for material selection to be able to predict the likelihood of environment-assisted cracking or pitting corrosion. By using Scanning Kelvin Probe (the vibrating capacitor

Linear Correlation between Water Adsorption Energies and Volta Potential Differences for Metal/water Interfaces

The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters, 2021
Potential of zero charge (PZC) is an important reference for understanding the interface charge and structure at a given potential, and its difference from the work function of metal surface (ΦM) is defined as the Volta potential difference (ΔΦ). In this work, we model 11 metal/water interfaces with ab initio molecular dynamics.

Volta potential at metal-solid salt interface and real potentials of ions in solid electrolytes

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1979
Abstract Experimental conditions and results of investigations of Volta potentials of metal-solidelectrolyte and solid electrolyte-aqueous electrolyte solution by means of the dynamic condenser method are presented. These investigations were made for silver-silver halides and silver-silver nitrate as well as for cadmium-cadmium halide systems. On the
