Thyristors Balancing Voltage Regulator with Boost Voltage
2021 International Ural Conference on Electrical Power Engineering (UralCon), 2021This paper examines the problems of improving the power supply quality in four-wire distribution networks of 0.4 kV. The reasons leading to the quality deterioration of the electricity supplied to the consumer are considered. −The operation of known voltage regulators providing stabilization and balancing load voltage is analyzed, their advantages and ...

Voltage balancing in low voltage distribution networks using Scott transformers
22nd International Conference and Exhibition on Electricity Distribution (CIRED 2013), 2013A low voltage (LV) radial feeder balancing method using Scott transformers is introduced in the paper. It converts an unbalanced three-phase voltage into a balanced threephase voltage at either a downstream location on the feeder or at a three-phase load supply point.

Voltage balancing using switched capacitors
Electric Power Systems Research, 1992Thyristor switched capacitors (TSCs) are a useful means of load balancing and reactive power support. The control of a general load by a binary weighted switched capacitor system is discussed in this paper along with a simple control scheme where the capacitor bank across a line pair is adjusted to control the fundamental voltage magnitude for that ...

MMC Capacitor Voltage Decoupling and Balancing Controls
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2015A Modular Multilevel Converter (MMC) control system based on converter energy storage is proposed in this paper for two different control modes: active power and dc voltage. The proposed control system decouples the sub-module (SM) capacitor voltages from the dc bus voltage. One of the practical applications is the management of active redundant SMs. A

Boost Modular Multilevel Converter’s Capacitor Voltage Balancing without voltage sensors
2020 IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics, Smart Grid and Renewable Energy (PESGRE2020), 2020In this paper a cross connected half ridge sub-module (XCHB-SM) based modular multilevel converter (MMC) is presented. It is capable to block DC side fault which is not possible with normal HB-SM based MMC. MMC is also prominent for its superior Capacitor Voltage Balancing (CVB).

Dual-Buck Half-Bridge Voltage Balancer
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2013Micro-dc grid is a novel power system focused on the development of renewable resources. However, two-wire transmitting power mode is generally accepted in a micro-dc grid, which is usually not suitable for the requirements of the input voltage levels of different power converters and loads.

Capacitor Voltage Balancing in Multi-Level Voltage Reinjection (MLVR) Converters
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005In common with conventional multi-level conversion configurations, the multi-level voltage reinjection scheme uses multi-level clamping and dc series connected capacitors. The operation conditions that lead to capacitor voltage unbalance are analyzed and the use of adaptive adjustment of the clamping switches conducting periods is investigated.

BRAVO: Balanced Reliability-Aware Voltage Optimization
2017 IEEE International Symposium on High Performance Computer Architecture (HPCA), 2017Defining a processor micro-architecture for a targeted productspace involves multi-dimensional optimization across performance, power and reliability axes. A key decision in sucha definition process is the circuit-and technology-driven parameterof the nominal (voltage, frequency) operating point.

Balancing high-voltage batteries
Power Engineering Journal, 1991How often do we hear, at the site of a natural disaster such as a storm or flood1, ‘if only I'd made sure my insurance policy was up to date! ’ It is always easy to be wise after the event, and all too easy to be misled into believing that cover is adequate to cope with any emergency. So it is with standby battery systems.
