A CMOS Dual-Band Voltage Controlled Oscillator

APCCAS 2006 - 2006 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2006
A new fully integrated, dual-band voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) is presented. The VCO is implemented in 0.18?m CMOS technology with 1.8V supply voltage. The circuit allows the VCO to operate at two resonant frequencies with two LC tanks. This VCO is configured with 2.4 GHz and 4.8 GHz frequency bands with differential outputs.

Virtual Oscillator Control for voltage source inverters

2013 51st Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2013
This paper summarizes a suite of methods that have recently been proposed for the control and synchronization of parallel single- and three-phase voltage source power electronics inverters. Inspired by the phenomenon of synchronization in networks of coupled oscillators, the premise of the proposed Virtual Oscillator Control (VOC) is to control an ...

A BIST Technique for RF Voltage-Controlled Oscillators

16th Asian Test Symposium (ATS 2007), 2007
A built-in self-test (BIST) architecture is proposed for voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO) operating at multi- gigahertz frequencies. By utilizing a frequency divider and a frequency-to-voltage converter (FVC), the output frequency and tuning range of the VCO can be extracted without external test instruments.

Simulation of SET faults in a voltage controlled oscillator

2012 13th Latin American Test Workshop (LATW), 2012
In Integrated Circuits (ICs), the faults can lead to permanent, transient or intermittent errors. In the case of transient faults, they take place for a very short time. These faults can lead from small unexpected changes in the results or even in the circuit complete and permanent failure. One of transient fault is known as Single-Event Transient (SET)

The pancreatic B-cell as a voltage-controlled oscillator

1993
We recorded the intracellular activity of pancreatic B-cells. The B-cells are the biological elements of the glucose control system. The action of glucose on the pancreatic B-cells take place in a two step-fashion: 1) concentrations lower than 6 mM glucose induces a progressive depolarization, 2) for higher concentrations the cells start to oscillate ...

Transformer-Based Dual-Mode Voltage-Controlled Oscillators

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2007
In this brief, we propose to use a transformer-based resonator to build a dual-mode oscillator, e.g., a system capable of oscillating at two different frequencies without recurring to switched inductors, switched capacitors, or varactors. The behavior of the resonator configured as a one-port and a two-port network is studied analytically, and the ...

Voltage controlled oscillator

2005
There is provided a voltage controlled oscillator having a favorable shield characteristic between a strip line and a wiring pattern and being small in reduction of inductance and Q. The voltage controlled oscillator comprises a circuit board having a laminate of a plurality of insulating plates (2), a wiring pattern (3) formed on a surface of the ...

Nonlinear Analysis of Voltage-Controlled Oscillators: A Systematic Approach

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers, 2008
A method for the nonlinear analysis of voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) is presented, accounting for the nonlinear effect of both the varactors and the active devices. A nonlinear perturbation model of VCOs is presented, as well as a method for finding their steady-state oscillation, overcoming the limitation of previous analyses which rely on the
