A Noncontact Voltage Measurement System for Power-Line Voltage Waveforms
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2020This paper presents the design and implementation details of a complete noncontact (NC) voltage acquisition system, which allows the measurement of power-line voltage waveforms without galvanic contact. The system is composed by a novel capacitive probe, an analog front end (AFE), and a microcontroller-based digital signal processing stage.

Turboalternator shaft voltage measurements
2012 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS) Proceedings, 2012This paper presents the results of shaft voltages measurement campaign undertaken to investigate the sources of unrecoverable temperature drift observed on the thrust bearing of a small industrial steam turbine of a turbogenerator installed in a cogeneration biomass thermal power station.

The measurement of high voltages, with special reference to the measurement of peak voltages
Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1930Two methods of measuring peak voltage have been invetigated. In the one method a condenser divider is used, and the voltage on the low-voltage arm of the divider is rectified. In the other the current through a condenser connected across the voltage to be measured is rectified, and the mean current so obtained is a measure of the peak voltage across ...

Laboratory measurement of impulse voltages
Electrical Engineering, 1933A brief description is given of impulse generators and the discharge circuit constants involved in obtaining impulse voltages of the desired wave shapes. The relative influences of these constants are recognized and simplified discharge circuits are given. The variations in the wave shape and the reasons for the differences in sparkover values obtained

A Meter for High Voltage Measurement
Review of Scientific Instruments, 1946A high voltage meter employing a capacity divider can be used even for d.c. measurements if it is combined with a special automatic grounding device. The construction of an instrument covering the range 2–100 kv is described. Applications and further improvements are discussed.

The measurement of high surge voltages
Electrical Engineering, 1933With the application of surge tests to high voltage electrical apparatus, the question of the measurement of high-surge voltages has become a subject of prime importance. It is accordingly desired in Part I to show the practical work done in the laboratory at Sharon to calibrate the measuring devices, and in Part II to study the more interesting ...

High Voltage Measurements at Niagara
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1908In the autumn of 1896, the writer of this paper undertook an investigation of the phenomena existing when transmission line conductors are subjected to high alternating voltages. The work was carried on near Telluride, Colorado, and extended over a period of about a year. The results of this work were embodied in a report made by the writer in 1897.
