On the economic regulation of voltage quality

2008 43rd International Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2008
The voltage continuity and quality are two different aspects of the quality on the electrical supply. Their regulation is of great importance due to the economical consequences associated with the presence of the disturbances in the electrical power systems.

A coordinated voltage control approach for coordination of OLTC, voltage regulator and DG to regulate voltage in a distribution feeder

2013 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2013
Integration of small-scale electricity generators, known as distributed generation (DG), into the distribution networks has become increasingly popular at the present. This tendency together with the falling price of the synchronous-type generator has potential to give DG a better chance at participating in the voltage regulation process together with ...

Voltage Regulation and Load Control

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1934
Some of the problems involved in supplying electric power to the business sections of large metropolitan areas are dealt with in this article which describes the development and operation of new methods of voltage regulation and load control by means of which improved conditions are being obtained on the distribution system in New York City.

Toward Voltage-Quality Regulation in Italy

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2010
The Italian regulatory authority is working toward the introduction of voltage-quality regulation. To this end, it initiated a power-quality measuring campaign and a study of customer costs. This paper summarizes the main results of these activities and provides evidence that economic losses due to very short interruptions and voltage dips can be very ...

Aircraft Voltage Regulator and Cutout

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1942
REQUIRED: A voltage regulator which weighs less than one-fifth its nearest relative in the industrial field, and a reverse-current cutout weighing less than one-sixth an industrial contactor of equivalent current rating. Such were some general requirements of the generator voltage regulator and cutout whose design and development are described in this ...

A Voltage Regulator

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1942
A D.C. regulating circuit based on the use of a Stabilovolt tube is described. This circuit allows much greater loads to be handled than the regulator tube in the normal set-up is capable of doing. This is achieved by the insertion of a small metal rectifier in the link connecting the load to the rectifier circuit.

Voltage Regulators of the Shunt Type

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1948
A general equation for the shunt regulator is derived, giving the relation between the nominal required input voltage and the maximum shunt regulating current for any per unit variation of the input voltage, and for any load. The necessary relation between the shunt regulating current and the output current for maximum electrical efficiency is obtained.
