Improved Premium Model of Voltage Sag Insurance Based on Voltage Sag Risk

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2022
Voltage sag insurance (VSI) is an effective measure to reduce the voltage sag loss and risk for enterprises with insufficient mitigation confidence or economic ability. However, due to the lack of understanding of voltage sag risk (VSR), it is difficult for power utilities to identify the enterprises with VSI demands, and it is also unable to realize ...

Voltage Sag Studies in Distribution Networks—Part II: Voltage Sag Assessment

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2006
This paper is the second part of a joint paper aimed at predicting the voltage sag performance of distribution networks by estimating voltage sag indices. This part explores the characteristics of voltage sags caused by faults in a distribution network considering the effect of the protective devices installed in the network.

Voltage sag stochastic estimate

Conference Record of the 2001 IEEE Industry Applications Conference. 36th IAS Annual Meeting (Cat. No.01CH37248), 2002
The probabilistic nature of the electromagnetic phenomenon that characterizes a voltage sag makes the establishment of tendencies based only upon monitoring results quite a difficult work to be done. Simulations of short circuits deterministically predict their behavior in various types and situations of possible short circuits.

Voltage sag analysis through wavelet transform

MELECON '98. 9th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36056), 2002
The objective of the paper is an in-depth voltage sag characterization. Attention is turned in particular to detect the frequency range associated to the main transients contained in the voltage waveform during sag. A suitable tool for this study is the wavelet transform, which allows decomposition of a transient signal into a series of wavelet ...

International Coordination for Voltage Sag Indices

2005/2006 PES TD, 2005
This paper proposes a general five-step framework for obtaining system indices for voltage dip performance. The framework is used to describe existing standards and ongoing work in standard-setting organizations (IEC, IEEE, CIGRE). Using the framework it becomes clear where the missing links are towards system-wide performance indices for voltage dips.

Load modeling for voltage sag studies

2003 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37491), 2004
This paper investigates the influence of load modeling on voltage sag characteristics and compares the results of voltage sag calculation with different load models. It is shown that some voltage sag characteristics are strongly influenced by the models chosen for representing power system loads.

Voltage Sag Studies in Distribution Networks—Part III: Voltage Sag Index Calculation

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2006
Power quality indices have been developed to assess the performance of a single site or an entire system. They can guide utilities to improve their systems and can be used by manufacturers to decide about equipment immunity. This paper is the third part of a joint paper aimed at predicting the voltage sag performance of distribution networks by ...

Voltage sag: Malaysian's experience

POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002
Voltage sag is one of the major components of power quality of an electric power system. In Malaysia, transmission system's disturbance becomes a dominant source. Voltage sag affects every customer, however, industrial customers are the most affected.

Dynamic Voltage Restorer For Voltage Sag Compensation

2005 International Conference on Power Electronics and Drives Systems, 2006
The Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) is a power electronic device that is used to inject 3-phase voltage in series and in synchronism with the distribution feeder voltages in order to compensate for voltage sag. In this paper the operation of a DVR is presented.

Voltage Sag Mitigation

2017
Performance of Matrix converter as a voltage sag compensator for linear loads has been described in this chapter. In power quality (PQ) parlance, the term voltage sag is used to designate a dip in the supply voltage magnitude over a small time duration which can extend over few cycles [48, 49].
