Detection of Point-on-wave for Voltage Sags by Hilbert Complex Plane

2021 IEEE PES Innovative Smart Grid Technologies - Asia (ISGT Asia), 2021
Voltage sags are one of the common power quality disturbances in electricity networks. Point-on-wave (POW) detection of voltage sag becomes crucial since it largely affects the operations of protective relays and mechanical contractors. This paper proposes a simple yet effective POW detection method targeting voltage sag events.

Voltage Sag Detection Technique for a Dynamic Voltage Restorer

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2003
Dynamic voltage restorers (DVRs) are used to protect sensitive loads from the effects of voltage sags on the distribution feeder. This paper presents and verifies a novel voltage sag detection technique for use in conjunction with the main control system of a DVR.

Detecting transient voltage stability and voltage sag

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2004
This paper presents method to discriminate between transient voltage stability and voltage sag. The discrete wavelet transform (WT) is a powerful tool in the analysis of the transient phenomena in power systems because of its ability to extract information in both the time and frequency domain.

Detecting Voltage Swell, Interruption and Sag

2018 19th International Conference of Young Specialists on Micro/Nanotechnologies and Electron Devices (EDM), 2018
Quality control of electrical energy and timely detection of interference and distortion of supply voltage is a very important task. This is necessary both to find the source of distortion, and to compensate for distortion. In this review, we consider the problem of detecting random events: voltage swell, interruption, and voltage sag in the power ...

A Novel Detection Method for Voltage Sags

2006 2nd International Conference on Power Electronics Systems and Applications, 2006
Determining the start and end of the voltage sag event is very important for sag analysis and mitigation. There are several detection methods for voltage sags in which sag voltages are usually expressed in the terms of RMS. The RMS method represents one cycle historical average value, not instantaneous value which may lead to long detection time when ...

Voltage Sag Disturbance Detection Based on RMS Voltage Method

2009 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2009
This paper analyses the different voltage sag phenomenon of the different voltage sag sources and summarizes the characteristics of the different voltage sag sources, including the amplitude of the voltage sag, the swell happening at the same time of the sag, the characteristics of the voltage changes during the sag and the three phases voltage balance

Type detection of voltage sags through voltage unbalance factor

2012 IEEE 15th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power, 2012
This paper presents a new method to characterize and detect the type of voltage sag through complex voltage unbalance factor (CVUF). Different types of voltage dip due to unbalance faults in power system are evaluated in term of CVUF and an attempt is made to characterize and detect the types of dip through this factor.

Research on detection algorithm of voltage sag characteristics

2012 7th IEEE Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2012
The first important needed to solve problem of voltage quality assessment and interference suppression is accurate detection for three main voltage sag characteristics of amplitude value, duration and phase angle jump. The usual detection methods of voltage sag characteristics including effective value calculation method, peak voltage method and ...

Detection, classification & characterisation of voltage sag

2016 International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, and Optimization Techniques (ICEEOT), 2016
In this paper, voltage sag due to power system faults such as three-phase-to-ground, single-phase-to-ground, phase-to-phase and two-phase-to-ground are created in transmission line model for generation of different types of voltage sag. This paper describes a methodology for voltage sag generation using Matlab/Simulink.
