System Voltage Sag Performance Estimation

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2005
This paper describes an analytical method for evaluating the voltage sag performance of a power-supply distribution network. The severity of voltage sag, as a result of system fault, is quantified by its magnitude and duration, and illustrated using a voltage sag density table.

Overview of voltage sag mitigation

2000 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37077), 2002
This paper gives an overview of methods used in the mitigation of voltage sags. Different solutions for improving the performance of the power system, as well as the immunity of the equipment, are described. Finally, mitigation devices to be installed at the system-load interface for power quality enhancement are presented.

Tutorial on voltage sag analysis

Ninth International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX441), 2002
Voltage sags are known as a serious problem causing mal-operation of equipment like computers, process controllers and adjustable-speed drives. In this tutorial various analysis techniques for voltage sags are introduced: characterization of individual sags from measurements as well as from theoretical calculations; stochastic assessment (prediction ...

Voltage Sags in Industrial Systems.

RE&PQJ
This paper presents results relating to the effect of voltage  sags  in  industrial  systems  on  adjustable  speed   drives.   The   influence   of   the   source   impedance,  dc  link  capacitor,  characteristics  of  voltage   sags   and   the   effect   of   the   utility   is   computed.

Voltage sag source location identification

IET Conference Publications, 2009
In recent years several methods have been proposed to identifying the voltage sag source location. The basis of most of these methods is to determine if the source originated upstream or down stream from the monitoring location. This study proposes a method that is capable of identifying the voltage sag originated bus.

Transformerless Dynamic Voltage Restorer for voltage sag mitigation

2016 Biennial International Conference on Power and Energy Systems: Towards Sustainable Energy (PESTSE), 2016
Dynamic Voltage Restorers are identified to be cost effective solution for protecting sensitive loads from voltage related power quality issues. The extension of cost reduction and efficiency can be improved by eliminating the injection transformer. This paper discusses a transformer-less dynamic voltage restorer based on three-single phase Voltage ...

Method to Select Optimal Device for Mitigating Voltage Sag Based on Voltage Sag Assessment

The Transactions of The Korean Institute of Electrical Engineers, 2015
This paper presents a method to select optimal device for mitigating voltage sags. The method is based on economic evaluation and voltage sag assessment involving sag duration as well as magnitude. The economic evaluation is performed by using the operation cost and economic benefit of the mitigation devices.

Before and during voltage sags

IEEE Industry Applications Magazine, 2005
The relationship between the voltages and the tripping level for line-operated synchronous machines is discussed. Voltage sags may cause tripping and large torque peaks in electrical machines. Tripping is caused by undervoltage protection or overcurrent protection.
