Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Analysis of the booster DC to DC converter with feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The field effect power transistors are used in many applications in electromechanical systems. Control of the field effect power transistors requires isolated 5V control signals and isolated 12V DC sources.

A multi‐power quality problems management strategy based on VSCs and switches in AC/DC hybrid LVDN with large PVs

open access: yesIET Renewable Power Generation
A large scale of distributed photovoltaics is accessed through a low voltage distribution network in a single‐phase or two‐phase, which causes three‐phase unbalance and over‐voltage problems.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A study of energy scavenging strategy in a tapping tree power [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Energy harvesting has become one of the newest research attraction for both academic and industry fields. The energy is captured from external sources (thermal, wind, solar, vibration and hydrodynamic) and the energy source for energy harvesters is ...

Disorder induced superconducting ratchet effect in nanowires

open access: yes, 2010
A dc voltage drop develops along amorphous indium oxide nanowires that are exposed to an ac bias source. This voltage is anti-symmetric with magnetic field and is characterized by sample specific quasi-periodic magneto-voltage oscillations.

SYNCHRONOUS BALANCED OPERATION OF OPEN-END WINDING MOTOR DRIVE WITH TWO ISOLATED DC-SOURCES

open access: yesProblems of the Regional Energetics, 2009
Novel method of synchronized pulsewidth modulation (PWM) has been applied for balanced control of dual inverter-fed drive with an open-end-winding induction motor, supplied by two isolated dc-sources.
