Comparison of voltage source converters and Z-source converters for electric vehicles
Emerging Materials Research, 2021Voltage source and current source converters are used in industrial applications as either boost or buck converters for a defined power flow direction. These operational modes limit these converters to be utilized on their own in hybrid and electric vehicle (EV) applications.

Voltage source converter in a microgrid
International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management, 2018Microgird with higher amount of renewable energy sources interconnected with power electronic devices has many challenges, such as loss of inertia, low short circuit ratio, difficulty in power sharing, problem of storage in an islanded condition, which needs to be handled properly.

Voltage source based voltage-to-time converter
2015 IEEE 58th International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2015Voltage-to-time converter (VTC) circuits are used as the core component of single-slope analog to digital converters (ADCs). These VTC circuits have traditionally depended on the use of a constant current source as part of their implementation in order to have good linearity.

Adaptive control of a Voltage Source Converter
CCECE 2010, 2010This work presents a new trajectory tracking control strategy for a three phase Voltage Source Converter (VSC). The design is based on a third order nonlinear model of the VSC expressed in the dq frame. By suitable approximation of the dc voltage dynamics, the system is transformable to a LTI form by a nonlinear change of state coordinates.

Controllers for voltage source converters
2013 International Conference on Emerging Trends in Communication, Control, Signal Processing and Computing Applications (C2SPCA), 2013The power system is dependent on control of power and voltage for its stability and reliability. Voltage Source Converter (VSC) technology has the advantage of being able to almost instantly change its working point within its capability limit. Due to this advantage, VSC can be used to support the system to maintain active power or output voltage ...

Voltage source converter in high voltage applications: multilevel versus two-level converters
9th IET International Conference on AC and DC Power Transmission (ACDC 2010), 2010This paper presents a comparison between two-level and multilevel converters for medium-voltage applications. The comparison focuses on issues such as waveform quality, voltage and current stresses on the switching devices, switching frequency per device, and conversion losses (mainly, on-state and switching losses).

Operation of a voltage source converter at increased utility voltage
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1997The operation of a voltage source converter (VSC) with regeneration capability, controllable power factor, and low distortion of utility currents is analyzed at increased utility voltage. Increase in the utility voltage causes a VSC to saturate and enter a nonlinear mode of operation.

Voltage Source Converters to Improve the Operation of the Micro-grid
2008 IEEE Region 10 and the Third international Conference on Industrial and Information Systems, 2008The paper discusses the use of the 'Micro-grid' concept to integrate renewable energy generation into the distribution network. In essence, a Micro-grid consists of bundled renewable micro sources and loads connected together by fast acting power electronics. Energy storage and low-bandwidth supervisory control is often added.

Exact Modeling of the Voltage Source Converter
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 2001A discrete time, linear time varying model of the three-phase voltage source converter (VSC) is developed. The model is employed to determine the steady state operating characteristics of a VSC taking all ac-dc side harmonic interactions into account. The procedure is based on an exact closed form solution of the system equations and does not rely on ...
