Design and optimization of voltage clamps for voltage source inverters

PESC `92 Record. 23rd Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2003
The authors describe various voltage clamp circuits for voltage source inverters, operated either in the hard switching or soft switching mode. The characteristics of the different circuits are compared, and the theoretical results are supported by experimental measurements.

Efficient Snubbers for Voltage-Source GTO Inverters

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1985
The two gate turn-off thyristors in the phase leg of a voltage-source inverter are provided with a series center-tapped inductance snubber and shunt capacitor snubbers having a single discharge resistor and only two auxiliary diodes. This arrangement minimizes the number of components and allows reduction of capacitor size, thereby reducing the snubber

Instantaneous voltage measurement in PWM voltage source inverters

2007 International Aegean Conference on Electrical Machines and Power Electronics, 2007
The use of pulse width modulated (PWM) inverters is nearly universal in industrial drives, making accurate voltage measurements problematic due to the switching nature of the applied phase voltage. Often, the applied phase voltage is reconstructed by using a combination of the DC link voltage and the commanded PWM duty cycle.

Effect of supply-voltage unbalance on voltage-source inverter

3rd IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2006), 2006
Properties of the control method for the compensation of unbalanced voltage supply that eliminates pulsating current in the DC bus of a voltage source inverter are analyzed. These pulsations can have negative effects on operating properties of the drive as well as on the quality of power supply in the electrical vicinity of the inverter.

Interval Modelling of a Voltage Source Inverter

8th IET International Conference on Power Electronics, Machines and Drives (PEMD 2016), 2016
Many types of models have been developed for the voltage source inverter taking into account non-ideal effects, such as voltage drops over the semiconductors, non-ideal switching characteristics and turn-on delay times. However, uncertainties caused by measurement errors during the identification and during the operation of the model have been ...

Harmonics in voltage-source PWM inverters

International Journal of Electronics, 1981
he performance of an induction motor fed by PWM inverters is mainly determined by the harmonic contents of the output voltage. This paper presents a method of numerically calculating the harmonics in the output voltage waveform. Equal pulse-width modulation and siunsoidal PWM are studied.

Voltage controlled current source inverters

Proceedings of the 1992 International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control, Instrumentation, and Automation, 2003
The authors present a fully functional voltage controlled current source inverter (VC-CSI) three-phase inverter that can closely track a given voltage reference signal and also provide various performance improvements. The adaptive SPWM control method has been used to force the output voltage to track the respective sinusoidal reference signals.

Evolution of multilevel voltage source inverters

2008 9th International Conference on Actual Problems of Electronic Instrument Engineering, 2008
The problem of increase in power and voltage of inverters today is provided more often by construction of multilevel voltage source inverters. The formation of an Instant curve of voltage of such inverter goes basically by the amplitude modulation with PWM added between the neighboring levels of the voltage of amplitude modulation.
