Study of breakdown in ultrathin gate dielectrics using constant voltage stress and successive constant voltage stress

Microelectronic Engineering, 2005
A comparative study on understanding the effect of conventional constant voltage stress (CVS) and successive constant voltage stress (SCVS) methodology on the post-breakdown transistor performance has been performed. In CVS stressing methodology, breakdowns in ultrathin gate oxides in narrow MOSFETs in moderate and high compliance current, Igl, range ...

27.12 MHz large voltage gain resonant converter with low voltage stress

2013 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition, 2013
This paper presents the design and implementation of a high frequency switching power converter with a large voltage gain and air core inductors. Specifically, we demonstrate a 40 W, 30 V to 300 V dc-dc converter switching at 27.12 MHz. Operating at this frequency reduces bulk energy storage over conventional low frequency designs and allows for fast ...

A High-Voltage ZVZCS DC--DC Converter With Low Voltage Stress

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2008
A high-voltage zero-voltage-zero-current-switched dc--dc converter with low voltage stress is presented in this paper. Its circuit structure is extended from a previously developed zero-voltage-switched dc--dc converter consisting of six series-connected switching devices, one three-phase transformer, and an output current tripler.

A Zero-Voltage-Switched Isolated Resonant Converter with Reduced Voltage Stress

2018 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2018
This paper proposes a zero-voltage-switched resonant DC-DC converter. The converter enables parasitic components, including the transformer leakage inductance, switch output capacitance and diode junction capacitance to act as a part of the resonant components, which facilitates zero-voltage-switching operation and pushes up switching frequency.

Effect of Voltage Stress on Diagnostic Parameters of Low Voltage Cables

Conference Record of the 2008 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2008
The most important property of the insulation is the dielectric strength, because the main function of the insulation is isolating of the electrodes on different potential. Due to the stresses the dielectric strength is decreasing till it reaches the limit of safety operation. Aging tests are performed on insulations to predict the expected lifetime of

Influence of VFD parameters on voltage stresses in low voltage windings

2016 57th International Scientific Conference on Power and Electrical Engineering of Riga Technical University (RTUCON), 2016
Currently the frequency control is widely used to provide high level of induction motors efficiency. Studies show that typical for the variable frequency drive (VFD) severe electro-thermal stresses influencing on the windings insulation negatively affect the windings reliability.

Dynamic voltage stress effects on nMOS varactor

Microelectronics Reliability, 2006
The degradations in the nMOS device due to high-frequency (900 MHz) dynamic stress are shown experimentally. The stress-induced shifts in DC and larger-signal C-V characteristics are presented. Although the high-frequency stress-induced degradations are much smaller than DC stress, the effects on C-V curves and quality factor cannot be neglected.

Repetitive fast voltage stresses-causes and effects

IEEE Electrical Insulation Magazine, 2009
In this article, we have seen how high-frequency system resonances, triggered by power electronic devices, may enhance both electrical and thermal stress on an insulation system. An important lesson from this study is that even an insulation system that is very well designed according to present standards may fail if it is subjected to stresses that ...

Electroluminescence in XLPE under impulse voltage stress

Proceedings of Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena - CEIDP '96, 2002
Time resolved electroluminescence (EL) measurements were performed on high voltage cable grade crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation with positive, negative and alternating polarity impulses at various repetition rates. To create divergent fields in the insulation, needle electrodes made of semiconductive polymer were used. It is shown that the EL

Optimizing field stress on high voltage bushings

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE International Symposium on Electrical Insulation, 2002
A method is described for optimizing the field stress on HV bushings-penetrating through a flat grounded casing-by modifying their profile, seeking a uniform distribution of the tangential field along the bushing surface. This results in an increase of the inception voltage for surface flashover on the bushing surface.
