In this work we define a numerical invariant called $F$-volume. This number extends the definition of $F$-threshold of a pair of ideals $I$ and $J$, $c^J(I)$ to a sequence of ideals $J$, $I_1, \ldots, I_t$. We obtain several properties that emulate those of the $F$-threshold. In particular, the $F$-volume detects $F$-pure complete intersections.

Speaking volumes about volumes [PDF]
You can only predict things after they have happened. —Eugene Ionesco Is that really true? What is clear is that better surrogate end points are needed for follicular lymphoma (FL) clinical trials so we can predict outcomes before they actually occur; to this end, in this issue of Blood, Cottereau et al provide valuable direction.1 FL is the most ...

The finite-volume method in computational rheology [PDF]
The finite volume method (FVM) is widely used in traditional computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and many commercial CFD codes are based on this technique which is typically less demanding in computational resources than finite element methods (FEM ...

Estimated central blood volume in cirrhosis [PDF]
The estimated central blood volume (i.e., blood volume in the heart cavities, lungs and central arterial tree) was determined by multiplying cardiac output by circulatory mean transit time in 19 patients with cirrhosis and compared with sympathetic ...
