Lessons Learned: Quality Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuromyelitis Optica

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Optical coherence tomography (OCT)‐derived retina measurements are markers for neuroaxonal visual pathway status. High‐quality OCT scans are essential for reliable measurements, but their acquisition is particularly challenging in eyes with severe visual impairment, as often observed in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders ...

On modelling electrochemical gas evolution using the volume of fluid method

open access: yes, 2020
In this work we describe the various building block relevant in simulating electrochemical gas evolution using Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. These building blocks are implemented in the VOF solver available in OpenFOAM® and its predictions are compared to the theoretical models reported in literature.

Portable Low‐Field Magnetic Resonance Imaging in People With Human Immunodeficiency Virus

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The aging population of people with HIV (PWH) raises heightened concerns regarding accelerated aging and dementia. Portable, low‐field MRI (LF‐MRI) is an innovative technology that could enhance access and facilitate routine monitoring of PWH.

Network Localization of Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Fatigue is among the most common symptoms and one of the main factors determining the quality of life in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying fatigue are not fully understood. Here we studied lesion locations and their connections in individuals with MS, aiming to identify brain networks ...

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Real‐World Investigation of Satralizumab in Patients With Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Satralizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin‐6 receptor, has demonstrated efficacy in clinical trials for neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). However, its real‐world effectiveness and safety compared to conventional immunosuppressive therapies remain uncertain.

Anti-diffusion method for coupled level set and volume of fluid, volume of fluid, and tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing methods

open access: yesPhysics of Fluids
In this paper, we propose an anti-diffusion method to effectively prevent flotsams (non-physical tiny droplets and bubbles) and/or diffusion of the VOF (volume of fluid) function that occur in CLSVOF (coupled level set and volume of fluid), VOF (volume of fluid), and THINC (tangent of hyperbola for interface capturing) methods.

Fluid and Neuroimaging Biomarkers in Microgliopathy Colony‐Stimulating Factor‐1 Receptor‐Related Disorders

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aims to identify both fluid and neuroimaging biomarkers for CSF1R‐RD that can inform the optimal timing of treatment administration to maximize therapeutic benefit, while also providing sensitive quantitative measurements to monitor disease progression.

An Improved Volume-of-Fluid Method for Wave Impact

open access: yes, 2004
This paper describes a modified volume-of-fluid method for the simulation of wave impact problems at moving bodies. The method is based on the Navier-Stokes equations that describe the motion of incompressible viscous fluid flow. The equations are discretised on a fixed Cartesian grid using a finite volume method.
