A 22% breath‐hold failure and exclusion rate highlighted major communication barriers for CALD breast radiotherapy patients. In response, a multilingual app was developed to deliver translated coaching for DIBH and EBH in seven languages, improving health equity within the local health district through early education, patient‐friendly FAQs, and ...

Dose verification for respiratory-gated volumetric modulated arc therapy [PDF]
A novel commercial medical linac system (TrueBeam™, Varian Medical Systems, Palo Alto, CA) allows respiratory-gated volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), a new modality for treating moving tumors with high precision and improved accuracy by allowing for regular motion associated with a patient's breathing during VMAT delivery.

In 2020, our institution transitioned to the Eclipse™ treatment planning system and to Truebeam® linear accelerators with 6 MV and 10 MV energies. The linear accelerators were installed in smaller bunkers that could not accommodate 400 cm FAD. A multidisciplinary team within the institution was created to evaluate existing total body irradiation ...

Utilizing RegGAN‐generated synthetic CTs, this study evaluates the dosimetric robustness of physical versus virtual bolus strategies in breast VMAT. Results indicate that the virtual bolus method provides comparable plan quality with superior robustness for target coverage homogeneity against daily anatomical variations.

Volumetric modulated arc therapy planning for distal oesophageal malignancies [PDF]
Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) is a novel form of intensity-modulated radiation therapy that allows the radiation dose to be delivered in a single gantry rotation using conformal or modulated fields. The capability of VMAT to reduce heart and cord dose, while maintaining lung receiving 20 Gy

Deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) markedly cuts heart and left lung radiation doses during left‐sided breast cancer radiotherapy. The normal tissue complication probability (NTCP) model further confirms lower predicted cardiopulmonary toxicities versus free breathing (FB), potentially improving patients’ quality of life.

ABSTRACT Background When planning prostate radiotherapy, full bladder preparation is widely used to displace bowel and bladder from high‐dose regions but is difficult to reproduce and can prolong workflows. Methods Twenty men with localised prostate cancer ± seminal vesicles underwent CT simulation with full and empty bladders.
