Atomistic Mechanisms Triggered by Joule Heating Effects in Metallic Cu‐Bi Nanowires for Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bi doped metallic Cu nanowires are promising for spintronics thanks to the stabilization of a giant spin Hall effect. However, heat resulting from current injection forces Bi to leave solution, forcing segregation into monoatomic decorations which evolve into coherent crystalline aggregates.

Influence of various volute designs on volute overall performance

Journal of Thermal Science, 2010
This paper discusses the influence of various volute designs on volute overall performance for a certain centrifugal compressor with both vaned and vaneless diffuser. Firstly, based on a free vortex flow pattern and the assumption of a circumferentially uniform flow at the design condition, a corrected method for volute design is adopted.

Volution's Evolution

ACM SIGGRAPH 2004 Art gallery on - SIGGRAPH '04, 2004
BRIDGES Mathematical Connections in Art, Music, and Science "Volution" refers to a series of shell-like modular sculptural elements embedded in a cube. They all have similar edge-patterns consisting of quarter-circles on faces of the unit cube, and on the inside they exhibit several, possibly warped, saddles and tunnels. This paper discusses the origin

Volutes

2020
This chapter provides a short overview of the different non-axisymmetric inlet and outlet geometries for radial impellers. It describes the advantages and disadvantages of the different types, and explains the relation between the geometry and the flow in terms of performance and circumferential pressure distortion.

The Quality Volution

Quality in Higher Education, 2010
ABSTRACT Looking back at quality assurance in Europe, the author establishes that it has become a fact of life in higher education. It has also become a profession with its own set of practitioners and instruments. With the appearance of the common European standards (ESG), quaility assurance anchors its credibility in the public mind.
