Cecal Volvulus

A recent experience with cecal volvulus of acute and chronic types is presented. The four cases were treated surgically by both reconstructive and extirpative means with equally good results. Early diagnosis and vigorous treatment are emphasized to avoid a high mortality rate in this condition.

Gastric volvulus is a condition that brings diagnostically difficulties due to various symptoms. It can be an easily missed diagnosis, which can have severe consequences in acute cases with gastric necrosis, perforation, and sepsis. The gold standard for diagnosis and treatment is a CT scan followed by surgical treatment with gastropexy.
