Associations between TMEM106B C‐terminal fragment aggregation, age, and TDP‐43 or tau pathology

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
TMEM106B C‐terminal fragment (CTF) aggregation represents an age‐associated, common, diffuse phenomenon emerging after midlife with a weak association with TDP‐43 or tau pathology. These findings suggest that TMEM106B fibrillization may define a distinct axis of protein aggregation in the aging human brain. Abstract Transmembrane protein 106B (TMEM106B)

The potential for biased signalling in the P2Y receptor family of GPCRs

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
The purinergic receptor family is primarily activated by nucleotides, and contains members of both the G protein coupled‐receptor (GPCR) superfamily (P1 and P2Y) and ligand‐gated ion channels (P2X). The P2Y receptors are widely expressed in the human body, and given the ubiquitous nature of nucleotides, purinergic signalling is involved with a plethora

Computing Skinning Weights via Convex Duality

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present an alternate optimization method to compute bounded biharmonic skinning weights. Our method relies on a dual formulation, which can be optimized with a nonnegative linear least squares setup. Abstract We study the problem of optimising for skinning weights through the lens of convex duality.

Hierarchical Differentiable Fluid Simulation

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce a two‐step algorithm that significantly reduces memory usage for solving control problems using differentiable fluid simulation techniques: our method first optimizes for bulk forces at reduced resolution, then refines local details over sub‐domains while maintaining differentiability. In trading runtime for memory, it enables optimization

A Survey of Methods for Constructing 3D Urban Models From Point Clouds

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
The survey outlines a general process for constructing 3D models from point clouds and categorizes the methods based on their use of templates, basic surface primitives, hybrid approaches, or linear primitives. Additionally, the survey reviews the datasets and benchmarks that are essential for testing and training the developed methods.

Development and validation of the Essen Melanoma Quality of Life Inventory (EMQoLI)

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Background and Objectives New treatments for melanoma, such as targeted therapy and immunotherapy, present unique adverse events compared to traditional treatments like surgery and chemotherapy. Existing health‐related quality of life (HRQoL) measures often fail to address these new treatment effects and focus primarily on chemotherapy and ...

The Effects of Nutrient Additions on Kokanee in Dworshak Reservoir, Idaho

open access: yesFisheries Management and Ecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigated the effects of whole reservoir nitrogen (N) addition on kokanee growth in Dworshak Reservoir, Idaho. We hypothesized that N addition would improve the growth of kokanee (Oncorhynchus nerka) at a given level of abundance by increasing the availability of Daphnia, an important food source.

An Attachment and Multi‐Target Perspective on Organisational Commitment of Early Career Starters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Training and Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Establishing strong organisational commitment among early career starters such as apprentices, trainees, and dual‐study students is of central interest to companies' HR strategies for developing and retaining skilled workforces. To explain how commitment emerges, attachment theory offers a useful conceptual lens, as it provides an established ...
