Effect of angle of attack on vortex dynamics in laminar separation bubbles
The Physics of Fluids, 2019The dynamics of coherent structures that develop within laminar separation bubbles over a NACA 0018 airfoil at Rec = 100 000 and Angles of Attack (AOA) of 0°, 5°, 8°, and 10° are investigated experimentally using a high-speed flow visualization technique

Vortex dynamics during blade-vortex interactions
Physics of Fluids, 2015Vortex dynamics during parallel blade-vortex interactions (BVIs) were investigated in a subsonic wind tunnel using particle image velocimetry (PIV). Vortices were generated by applying a rapid pitch-up motion to an airfoil through a pneumatic system, and the subsequent interactions with a downstream, unloaded target airfoil were studied.

Experimental Dynamics of a Vortex within a Vortex
Physical Review Letters, 2000We report the experimental dynamics of a new two-dimensional (2D) fluid phenomenon that occurs when an intense, pointlike vortex is placed within a diffuse, circular vortex. Our observations, made using strongly magnetized electron columns to model the 2D fluid, support the analysis performed by Jin and Dubin.

We review the recent theoretical and experimental achievements on dynamics of spin vortices in patterned ferromagnetic elements. We first demonstrate the theoretical background of the research topic and briefly list the analytical and experimental approaches dealing with magnetic vortices. Then we report on the most remarkable studies devoted to steady

Summary: Numerical studies of two-dimensional turbulence show the importance of localised structures, both in the small scales where intermittent transfers occur and in the large scales dominated by coherent vortices. This work is an attempt to establish a more appropriate theoretical framework than the usual Fourier representation.

Vortex Core-Driven Magnetization Dynamics
Science, 2004Time-resolved x-ray imaging shows that the magnetization dynamics of a micron-sized pattern containing a ferromagnetic vortex is determined by its handedness, or chirality. The out-of-plane magnetization in the nanometer-scale vortex core induces a three-dimensional handedness in the planar magnetic structure, leading to a precessional motion of the ...

Vortex dynamics analysis of unsteady vortex wakes
1st National Fluid Dynamics Conference, 1988An incompressible inviscid unsteady vortex dynamics analysis is presented to investigate the flow details for a class of free and bounded shear flows. Using the unsteady vortex models developed for the starting vortex behind sharp edges and the vortex street wakes, particle dynamics computations have been carried out to determine the pathline and ...

Although well-developed theories have been available for various attached boundary layers, the motion of free shear layers as well as their effect on global flow and reaction to solid bodies is far more complicated.
