Henri Bénard: Thermal convection and vortex shedding

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mécanique, 2017
We present in this article the work of Henri Bénard (1874–1939), a French physicist who began the systematic experimental study of two hydrodynamic systems: the thermal convection of fluids heated from below (the Rayleigh–Bénard convection and the Bénard–Marangoni convection) and the periodical vortex shedding behind a bluff body in a flow (the Bénard ...

3D‐Printed Ion‐Conductive Hydrogels with Tunable Mechanical–Electrical Properties for Multimodal Sign Language Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work successfully fabricated ion‐conductive hydrogels with low hysteresis and high conductivity using 3D printing technology. By adjusting the component ratios, the properties of the hydrogels can be tuned to meet diverse sensing requirements. Finally, a multimodal sensing sign language recognition system was constructed based on this hydrogel ...

Bioinspired Engineering of Streamlined Skeletal Interoception: Neural Bioprinted Piezoelectric Scaffolds for Neuro‐Vascularized Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops neural bioprinted piezoelectric scaffolds which construct local “sensor‐effector” circuit, inspired by the skeletal interoception system. Upon US stimulation sensing and mechanoelectrical coupling by PLLA nanofibers, the incorporated DRG neurons effect through Ca2+ influx‐induced enhanced secretion and expression of CGRP.

Bioinspired Cold‐Laminated Ultrathin Hydrogels as a Broadly Adaptive Platform for Physiological Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A cold‐lamination strategy is introduced to fabricate ultrathin, nanomesh‐reinforced hydrogel bioelectronics with controlled thickness, tunable mechanics, and reversible adhesion. By mechanically interlocking a TPU nanomesh within a temperature‐responsive hydrogel, the platform enables robust epidermal and implantable cardiac interfaces, supporting ...

Study of Flow Characteristics around a Near-Wall Circular Cylinder Subjected to a Steady Cross-Flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, 2018
Three-dimensional RANS simulations are employed numerically to study flow characteristics around a near-wall circular cylinder for varying gap-to-diameter (G/D) ratios (Where G is the gap between the cylinder and the wall and D is the cylinder diameter ...

Sound‐Based Assembly of Magnetically Actuated Soft Robots Toward Enhanced Release of Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Magnetic soft robots offer promise in biomedicine due to their wireless actuation and rapid response, but current fabrication methods are complex and have limited cellular compatibility. A new, contactless bioassembly strategy using hydrodynamic instabilities is introduced, enabling customizable, centimeter‐scale robots.
