A constrained vortex model with relevance to helicopter vortex ring state [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A planar model of a lifting surface descending into its own wake is constructed with the aim of demonstrating some underlying mechanisms of the ‘vortex ring’ state that may be enteredby a rotary wing aircraft during a vertical descent.

Fasting and Refeeding Mediated Phospholipid Remodeling Plays an Important Role in Improving Meat Quality of Aged Laying Hens

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study explored fasting‐induced physiological remodeling effects on meat quality in aged laying hens. Fasting for 15 days (F15) significantly reduced abdominal fat, intermuscular fat width, subcutaneous fat thickness, and liver index versus pre‐fasting (F0) (p < 0.05), which recovered post‐refeeding.

Tissue‐Specific and Spatially Dependent Metabolic Signatures Perturbed by Injury in Male and Female Mice

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Osteoarthritis, the leading cause of disability worldwide, disproportionately affects women, yet sex remains an overlooked determinant. This disparity stems from sex‐specific differences in injury susceptibility—a major risk factor for disease.

Beyond salaries: Teachers' experiences of navigating early years education amid economic instability in Türkiye

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract The intersection of economic conditions and early years education has long been debated, particularly where financial constraints shape educational practice and professional realities. Türkiye, characterised by high inflation and structural vulnerabilities in purchasing power parity, provides a critical context for examining how economic ...

Vortex shedding from bluff bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The basic mechanisms of vortex shedding from two-dimensional bluff bodies are revisited, and recent findings are described regarding the application of stability analysis and the presence of three-dimensional features in vortex streets shed from ...

Porous Carbon Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
This work aims to address the current status and challenges associated with the regulation of pore structures, as well as the influence of pore structures on CO2 capture. Systematic quantitative analysis of structure–property relationships, combined with machine learning approaches, can effectively evaluate the contributions of structural ...

Catalyst‐Free Cyanation of Arenes by Acetonitrile in a Plasma–Liquid Microreactor

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
An original approach of arylnitrile synthesis was developed by generating an argon plasma in contact with solutions of arene in acetonitrile within a gas‐liquid microreactor. Plasma activation of acetonitrile generated cyano radicals, enabling a catalyst‐free C‐H cyanation of arenes.

Study of Flow Characteristics around a Near-Wall Circular Cylinder Subjected to a Steady Cross-Flow

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, 2018
Three-dimensional RANS simulations are employed numerically to study flow characteristics around a near-wall circular cylinder for varying gap-to-diameter (G/D) ratios (Where G is the gap between the cylinder and the wall and D is the cylinder diameter ...

Cytological Features of Clear Cell Sarcoma in Exfoliative and Effusion Cytology Specimen—A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Clear cell sarcoma of soft tissue (CCSST) with malignant effusion is a rare yet clinically aggressive appearance, which may pose a diagnostic pitfall with its overlapping cytomorphologic features with metastatic melanoma and carcinoma.

Exploring Cerumen as an Alternative Matrix for Drug Detection and Quantification: Method Development and Application in Clinical Samples

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
An LC–MS/MS method was developed for the detection of 33 psychoactive medications in cerumen (earwax) and applied to the samples of 60 psychiatric inpatient volunteers. The findings highlighted the utility of cerumen as an innovative biospecimen in clinical toxicological analysis.
