Characteristics of diabatically influenced cyclones with high wind damage potential in Europe
Diabatic processes contribute, on average, 26% to the intensification of European winter storms, with diabatically driven cyclones exhibiting steeper deepening rates, stronger wind gusts, and increased precipitation. These storms are linked to enhanced warm conveyor belt (WCB) activity and develop in a warmer environment with elevated lower ...

Dynamics and model representation of two contrasting extreme precipitation events in the Sahel
Hovmöller diagrams of the two investigated extreme precipitation events in Mali are shown for (i) IMERG observations, and ICOsahedral Nonhydrostatic model (ICON) runs with parameterization of explicit convection (ii) enabled and (iii) disabled. This work highlights that the commonly perceived benefit of using explicit convection in a state‐of‐the‐art ...

Local uniqueness of vortices for 2D steady Euler flow
We study the steady planar Euler flow in a bounded simply connected domain, where the vortex function is $f=t_+^p$ with $p>0$ and the vorticity strength is prescribed. By studying the location and local uniqueness of vortices, we prove that the vorticity

Windows of opportunity in subseasonal weather regime forecasting: A statistical–dynamical approach
This study explores how the atmospheric state at initialisation creates windows of opportunity for improving week 3 forecasts of weather regime activity. Greenland blocking activity increases following Madden–Julian Oscillation phases 7, 8, and 1 and weak stratospheric polar vortex states, revealing patterns exploitable by statistical models.

Aerodynamic Design and Experimental Investigation of the Sailplane Wing Tip Devices
This paper describes an experimental set-up for the investigation of wing tip devices developed as part of a study into the velocity and vorticity distributions in the flow field behind winglets, using hot-wire anemometry.

A pilot variational coupled reanalysis based on the CESAM climate model
Variational data assimilation of in‐situ and satellite ocean data and reanalysis atmospheric data into an intermediate complexity Earth system model is possible by adjusting the surface fluxes and internal model parameters. This pilot application requires nearly complete information on the atmospheric state for synchronization.

We describe fireballs that rehadronize from a perfect fluid of quark matter, characterized by the lattice QCD equation of state, to a chemically frozen, multi-component mixture, that contains various kinds of observable hadrons.

The role of soil moisture in the inland penetration of Indian monsoon low‐pressure systems
We use the Advanced Weather Research and Forecasting model to examine the role of soil moisture in the inland penetration of Indian monsoon low‐pressure systems (LPSs). We find that LPSs penetrate deeply into India despite a dry land surface; however, their inland penetration is adversely affected when there is a reduction in the total surface heat ...

INFORMATION MODELING AND SYSTEM DYNAMICS INTERPRETATION OF CONVENTIONAL ENGINES
An original improvement of modern information models of conventional engine is proposed. Within the model all internal as well as external processes related to engine are integrated to a general system.
