Nuclear vortical current and vorticity
Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 1999The nuclear current is divided into the sum of an irrotational and a vortical current. This vortical current is a transverse current whose source is the vorticity. We investigate how to determine experimentally the transition vorticity and vortical current densities, using data on inelastic electron scattering from , leading to the state at 16.11 MeV ...

Traditional interferometric methods for measuring the vortex structure of complex wave fields suffer from many intrinsic problems and seldom yield results of any accuracy. Using the unique properties of what I call Poincaré vortices, I develop a radically different method based on Stokes parameters that offers many practical advantages.

Recent studies of turbulent fluid motions have drawn attention to the transfer of vorticity. There have been some attempts to study turbulence by plane models, but these have been criticized justly for failing to reveal the true nature of a phenomenon which depends essentially on threedimensional ...

Vorticity: dynamics of vortices
2001Abstract In the discussion (Section 3.2) of deformations of an element of fluid, we have seen the appearance of a term involving the local rotation-the antisymmetric part of the velocity gradient tensor. The corresponding local rotation vector equals half the vorticity vector, defined as the curl of the velocity field. Thus, vorticity

Vorticity, Potential Vorticity
1992This lecture recalls the basic properties of vorticity and provides a summary of the main conservation laws associated with vorticity and its related quantities. It will be stated as clearly as possible how these different properties are used in industrial situations and in geophysical flows.
