Voter Turnout and Political Rents [PDF]
Journal of Public Economic Theory, 2015 AbstractIs the decline in voter turnout an indicator of a worse health of a representative democracy? We build a simple probabilistic‐voting model with endogenous turnout to address this question. We find that a lower turnout caused by a higher cost of voting implies higher political rents.

Agribusiness, EarlyView.ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.
