Correlates of Voter Turnout [PDF]
Despite decades of research, there is no consensus as to the core correlates of national-level voter turnout. We argue that this is, in part, due to the lack of comprehensive, systematic empirical analysis. This paper conducts such an analysis.

Employment, Wages, and Voter Turnout [PDF]
Using county-level data across several decades, and various OLS and TSLS models, we find that higher local wages and employment lower turnout in elections for governor, senator, US Congress and state House of Representatives, but have no effect on presidential turnout.

Voter turnout and fiscal policy [PDF]
Though a large literature on the determinants of turnout has flourished, there is scant evidence on the causal impact of turnout on policies implemented in practice. Using data on French municipalities and instrumental variables for turnout based on temperature and influenza variations, we show that a one percent increase in turnout decreases on ...

On the Representativeness of Voter Turnout [PDF]
In prominent voting models, expected pivotality drives voters’ turnout decisions and hence determines voting outcomes. In practice, many individuals turn out for reasons unrelated to pivotality, and their votes overwhelm the forces analyzed in pivotality-based models.

A soft robotic simulator is developed to replicate the digital removal of feces (DRF), a sensitive yet essential nursing procedure. Integrating soft actuators, sensors, and a realistic rectal model, the simulator balances functional fidelity with perceptual realism. Engineering evaluations and nurse feedback confirm its potential to enhance training in

Voter turnout and the size of government [PDF]
This paper uses Swedish and Finnish municipal data to investigate the effect of changes in voter turnout on the tax rate, public spending and vote-shares. A reform in Sweden in 1970, which overall lowered the cost of voting, is applied as an instrument for voter turnout in local elections. The reform increased voter turnout in Sweden.

Intelligent Sky Guardians (InSkyGuard) is introduced as a four‐drone swarm that autonomously detects, tracks, and safely captures rogue drones using a coordinated net system. Computer vision and leader–follower control architecture enable synchronized enclosure, while integrated failsafes enhance system reliability. Validated through closed‐environment
