Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality
Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.

predicting the vote using legislative speech
As most dedicated observers of voting bodies like the U.S. Supreme Court can attest, it is possible to guess vote outcomes based on statements made during deliberations or questioning by the voting members. We show this is also possible to do automatically using machine learning, potentially providing a powerful tool to ordinary citizens.
