An Analytical Approach for Quantifying the Role of Vapor Pressure Deficit in Soil Moisture Depletion During Flash Droughts

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Several studies have attributed the rapid drying during flash droughts to vapor pressure deficit (VPD) by using VPD anomaly based metrics. In this study, we use an analytical approach to investigate the role of VPD in the depletion of soil moisture ...

Air humidity as an ecological factor for woodland herbs: leaf water status, nutrient uptake, leaf anatomy, and productivity of eight species grown at low or high vpd levels

open access: yes, 2002
Ecologists have widely neglected the long term impact of vpd (the water vapor saturation deficit of the air) on plant growth and development. This paper tests the hypothesis that the prevailing vpd level during growth has a significant influence on the ...

A 7‐Year Eddy Covariance Dataset of the Energy, Water Vapour and Carbon Dioxide Fluxes Observed in a Siberian Dwarf Pine Ecosystem

open access: yesGeoscience Data Journal, Volume 13, Issue 4, October 2026.
To clarify the role of alpine ecosystems in water and carbon cycling, we measured eddy‐covariance fluxes in a Siberian dwarf pine ecosystem in the Japanese Alps. The quality of the flux data was assessed using micrometeorological criteria, and data gaps were filled using a random forest regression approach.

Analysis of Climate and Vapor Pressure Deficit (VPD) In a Heated Multi-Span Plastic Greenhouse

open access: yes, 2021
One of the most common problems encountered in greenhouse production, i.e., high humidity, provides a favorable environment for the development of various diseases, thereby leading to significant reduction in product quality and quantity. The humidity in

Modified Resistance Water Therapy for Children With 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome and Cleft Palate: A Pilot Observational Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims 22q11.2 deletion syndrome (22q11.2DS) is frequently associated with cleft palate and persistent velopharyngeal dysfunction, resulting in hypernasality and reduced speech intelligibility despite surgical repair. Conventional therapies often provide inconsistent outcomes. This pilot study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and

Spatial and Temporal Variations of Vegetation Water Content Using VOD and VPD in China During 2000–2016

open access: yes
Vegetation water content, characterized by vapor pressure deficit (VPD) and vegetation optical depth (VOD), can represent vegetation health in terrestrial ecosystems.

Drought Risk in Mango and Avocado Orchards: Insights Into Plant Water Relations and Irrigation‐Related Agronomic Solutions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 75, Issue 4, Page 1738-1763, Otober 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change is making water availability more uncertain, with growing consequences for the productivity and long‐term sustainability of tropical and subtropical fruit orchards. Mangifera indica L. and Persea americana Mill. both require large amounts of water to sustain growth and productivity.

Otsides puuduvaid komponente õhulõhede kõrge VPD-toimelises sulgumises

open access: yes
Climate warming is associated with rising atmospheric Vapour Pressure Deficit (VPD), which affects plant physiology and production. Some proteins in the high VPD-induced stomatal closure pathway are known (e.g., protein kinase OST1), but there are ...

Land‐Atmosphere Coupling Is Associated With Severer Vegetation Productivity Losses During Compound Dry‐Hot Events in Drylands

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 46, Issue 12, October 2026.
Compound dry‐hot events (CDHEs) exerted severer damage on vegetation productivity for temperate shrublands, savannas and grasslands in drylands. Land‐atmosphere coupling was associated with severer negative impacts of CDHEs through soil moisture–temperature feedback, especially for dry‐event‐leading CDHEs.
