Piikiekkojen pintojen alkuaineanalyysi VPD-DC ICP-MS -menetelmällä.

open access: yes
The purpose of this master’s thesis was to define and assess parameters and procedures for a tandem method of vapor phase decomposition droplet collection (VPD-DC) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) setup used for the trace ...

Long‐Term Effects of Biochar Addition on Diameter Growth in Young Established Boreal Scots Pine Stands

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, Volume 18, Issue 10, October 2026.
Biochar application on top of the soil can be successful in already established and naturally regenerated boreal forest stands. Biochar tends to increase diameter and basal area growth. Increasing biochar dose enhanced growth response. Biochar induced growth response diminished 5 years after application.

A role for vegetation phenology in shaping patterns of ecosystem sensitivity to drought

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 1, Page 23-32, October 2026.
Examples of vegetation phenology during drought. Summary Phenology, as the study of the timing and rhythms of vegetation activity, has traditionally emphasized trends in phenological responses to gradual climate change. Consequently, we lack understanding of phenological responses to concurrent increases in the frequency and intensity of climate ...

Impacts of Simulated Deforestation on Meteorology and Primary Productivity in Appalachian Deciduous Forests Using WRF With Noah‐MP

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Abstract Changes in land cover can impact local and synoptic meteorology, and subsequently, ecological processes. Using a coupled atmosphere and land surface model (WRF and Noah‐MP), we quantified how simulated deforestation events of varying extent (approximately 4,000–18,000 km2 ${\text{km}}^{2}$), continuity, and orientation, impact meteorology and ...

Transpiration restriction in response to VPD, transpiration efficiency, and their putative link: Retrospect and prospects

open access: yes
Transpiration efficiency (TE), defined as the ratio of biomass produced to water transpired, has long been a research target for improving crop water use efficiency and eventually yield.

Land‐Atmosphere Coupling Contributing to Anomalous Rainfall Before the Onset of Australian Monsoon

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 18, 28 September 2026.
Abstract This study applies idealized climate model simulations to investigate the influence of a continent‐sized ponded surface of limited heat capacity on the regional and remote atmospheric state. The analysis focuses on the wet season in northern Australia where precipitation provides critical water resources for agriculture and inland ecosystems ...
