Measurement of the selected spectral averaged cross sections in a radial channel of the VR-1 reactor
Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2019The spectral averaged cross section is an important quantity used in a validation of nuclear cross section. When the cross sections are averaged over the neutron standard field (252Cf(s,f) or 235U(n,f) neutron spectrum), they can be used for tuning of evaluations.

The research reactor VR-1 is operated by Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague. It is a pool-type, light-water reactor, with low enriched uranium. Maximum thermal power is 1kW (equal to 1·108 impulses/second when compared with reactors with higher power). Research on VR-1 reactor is mainly used

Application of MCNP for neutronic calculations at VR-1 training reactor
SNA + MC 2013 - Joint International Conference on Supercomputing in Nuclear Applications + Monte Carlo, 2014The paper presents utilization of Monte Carlo MCNP transport code for neutronic calculations of training reactor VR-1. Results of calculations are compared with results of measurements realized during last few critical experiments with various reactor core configurations. Very good agreement between calculations and measurements is observed.

Modelling of DD generator neutron source for R&D applications at VR-1 reactor facility [PDF]
Paper provides considerations for utilization of DD generator tube at VR-1 reactor facility. It gives applicable approaches to modelling the DD reaction as a source of neutrons. Further, it provides modelling of neutron field parameters around such source in bare geometry, moderated geometry and in geometry, where the DD tube would be used in radial ...

Deterministic and stochastic neutron cross-section generation for PARCS applied to VR-1 reactor
2016 17th International Scientific Conference on Electric Power Engineering (EPE), 2016The VR-1 reactor operated by the Czech Technical University in Prague was utilized for a study of a macroscopic cross-sections homogenization performed by deterministic (SCALE 6.1.2 — Triton) and stochastic (Serpent 2.1.24) codes. These cross-sections are subsequently imported into a fixed source problem solved by the three-dimensional reactor core ...

Neutron field for activation experiments in horizontal channel of training reactor VR-1
Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 2014Abstract The experimental channels of nuclear reactors often serve for nuclear data measurement and validation. The dosimetry-foils activation technique was employed to measure neutron field parameters in the horizontal radial channel of the training reactor VR-1, and to test the possibility of using the reactor for scientific purposes.
