Biallelic Germline Inactivation of HROB Causes Primary Gonadal Insufficiency and is Potentially Associated with Colonic Polyposis Predisposition
American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
The Homologous Recombination Factor With OB‐Fold (HROB) plays a role in homologous recombination and DNA replication, where it enhances the MCM8‐MCM9 helicase complex activity. Recent findings link biallelic germline HROB variants to primary gonadal insufficiency (hypergonadotropic hypogonadism), a phenotype also associated with MCM8/MCM9 ...Noah C. Helderman, Carli M. American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
Benign hyperphenylalaninemia (bHPA) is defined as elevated phenylalanine (Phe) levels remaining ≤ 360 μmol/L (6 mg/dL) and not requiring medical intervention. Individuals with bHPA may demonstrate a rise in their Phe levels > 360 μmol/L, effectively developing a mild PKU phenotype requiring therapy to prevent neurocognitive complications. American Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a well‐established, evidence‐based treatment for common mental disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, and obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD). However, treatment outcomes vary widely, and a substantial proportion of patients do not achieve sufficient improvement.Julia Bäckman, Olly Kravchenko, Matthew Halvorsen, Elles de Schipper, Ekaterina Ivanova, Viktor Kaldo, Nils Hentati Isacsson, Thorstein Olsen Eide, Kira D. A Genetic Correlation and Bi‐Directional Mendelian Randomization Study
American Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
In epidemiological studies, obsessive‐compulsive disorder (OCD) is robustly associated with increased risk of cardiometabolic disorders, including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and obesity. However, the mechanisms behind these associations are unclear. We conducted genetic correlation analyses to explore shared genetic etiology and Robyn E. Wootton, James J. Australian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.ABSTRACT
Housing asset‐based welfare has long been a key component of Australia's social policy. This resonates with a parallel literature identifying a trade‐off between homeownership and the size of nations' welfare states, wherein owner‐occupiers in smaller welfare states tend to come to rely on housing wealth to meet many of their welfare needs ...Gavin A. Annals of Neurology, EarlyView. Background
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) shows sex differences in incidence and age of onset, yet the underlying biological mechanisms remain poorly understood. Methods
We investigated sex‐specific genetic architecture in an Italian ALS cohort with whole‐genome sequencing (1,333 ALS cases, 755 controls).Maurizio Grassano, Francesca Palumbo, Gabriele Mora, Salvatore Gallone, Giovanni De Marco, Ilaria Merulla, Claudia Paolantonio, Alessandra Maccabeo, Antonio Canosa, Umberto Manera, Rosario Vasta, Barbara Iazzolino, Marcella Testa, Giuseppe Fuda, Paolina Salamone, Giulia Marchese, Federico Casale, Cristina Moglia, Andrea Calvo, Giuseppe Borghero, Adriano Chiò +20 morewiley +1 more source
