Tectonics, volcanism, landscape structure and human evolution in the African Rift [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Tectonic movements and volcanism in the African Rift have usually been considered of relevance to human evolution only at very large geographical and chronological scales, principally in relation to longterm topographic and climatic variation at the ...

Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Disturbed Coherence: Gate to Cancer

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2015
Continuous energy supply, a necessary condition for life, excites a state far from thermodynamic equilibrium, in particular coherent electric polar vibrations depending on water ordering in the cell. Disturbances in oxidative metabolism and coherence are

Outstanding Issues in Our Understanding of L, T, and Y Dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Since the discovery of the first L dwarf 19 years ago and the discovery of the first T dwarf 7 years after that, we have amassed a large list of these objects, now numbering almost six hundred.

Proizvodnja biomase stablastih vrba u kratkim ophodnjama

Magnetic Field Structure of the HH 1-2 Region: Near-Infrared Polarimetry of Point-Like Sources

open access: yes, 2009
The HH 1-2 region in the L1641 molecular cloud was observed in the near-IR J, H, and Ks bands, and imaging polarimetry was performed. Seventy six point-like sources were detected in all three bands.

Restrictions on Regularized Fisher and Dilatonic Spacetimes Implied by High-Frequency Quasiperiodic Oscillations Observed in Microquasars and Active Galactic Nuclei

open access: yesUniverse
The Bronnikov generalization of the Fisher naked singularity and Dilatonic black hole spacetimes attracts high interest, as it combines two fundamental transitions of the solutions of Einstein equations.

GOAT FARMING IN THE VRBAS BANOVINA

open access: yesISTRAŽIVANJA, Јournal of Historical Researches
The aim of the paper is to analyze goat farming in the Vrbas Banovina based on published and unpublished sources and available literature. In certain areas of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, goat farming was a major branch of stockbreeding. The portion of the population that did not have enough land to sustain a cow was able to successfully keep two to ...

Exaptation and emergence as mechanisms to cross fitness valleys during evolution: an example using simulated homing behaviour [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Evolution is often considered a gradual hill climbing process, slowly increasing the fitness of organisms. I investigate the evolution of homing behaviour in simulated intertidal limpets.
