VSC-HVDC Control System

2020
In the case of VSC-based HVDC transmission systems, the transfer of power is controlled in the same way as in the case of a classic HVDC transmission. The inverter side controls the active power, while the rectifier side controls the DC voltage [33, 56]. With classic HVDC, the reactive power cannot be controlled independently of the active power.

Modelling, Control and Simulation of VSC-HVDC Systems

2018 15th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD), 2018
The world is facing today a global energy transition challenge since developed countries need more energy for their economy growth in a framework of limited and poorly distributed energy resources. The Voltage Source Converter for High Voltage Direct Current (VSC-HVDC) is the most appropriate and efficient technology leading to accommodate more ...

Review and development of MMC employed in VSC-HVDC systems

2017 IEEE 30th Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (CCECE), 2017
The business case for MMC-HVDC is becoming popular in power transmission systems. Despite their superior potential compared to the AC and LLC-HVDC technologies, MMC-MTDC grid is yet to be efficiently realised in practice. Operation, control and modelling in such VSC-based schemes are arguably the most challenging research and development problems that ...

Nonlinear modeling and control of a VSC-HVDC transmission systems

2016 24th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation (MED), 2016
This paper presents a new modeling and control strategy of VSC-HVDC transmission system in order to improve system damping oscillations, and enhancing transient and voltage stability. This control strategy is based on a linear and bilinear state space deviation models.
