Broad-band VSWR measurements of a Cassegrain antenna

IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, 1978
Broadband VSWR measurements are reported on a small F -number Cassegrain antenna. Cyclical variations of VSWR between 1.00 and 1.25 with a 350-MHz frequency interval between unity VSWR values were observed over the 8.5-12.4 GHz frequency range. These variations correspond to a change in the power transmission ratio of 1.231 percent between the unity ...

Automatic site-VSWR measurement using mobile robot platform

2014 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2014
We have developed an automatic site-VSWR (SVSWR) measurement system using a mobile robot platform and an optical microwave transmitter. The proposed system can rapidly evaluate the performance of EMI anechoic chambers. In this paper, we explain the SVSWR measurement results obtained with the proposed system and the device configuration.

Transmitting Antenna VSWR Effects on FM Stereo

IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 1963
The effects of antenna VSWR on stereo left-right channel separation of a FM broadcasting station were investigated. The results of these tests were significant and indicate that the transmitting antenna VSWR for ±200 KC must be low. They also indicate that if the rest of the system from studio to the output of the stereo receiver is fixed, a change in ...

VSWR-protected 90 W L-band AlGaN/GaN power amplifier

2014 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS2014), 2014
Solid-state power amplifiers need protection against reflected power at the output caused by load mismatch. The standard method for protection is to include a ferrite-based isolator at the output. The isolator will redirect all reflected power to a dissipating load resistor and will ensure that the output of the amplifier always sees a 50 Ω load ...

Traceable Site-VSWR Measurements for Validating Anechoic Chamber

2018 Conference on Precision Electromagnetic Measurements (CPEM 2018), 2018
This paper presents recent works on traceable site-VSWR (Voltage Standing Wave Ratio) measurements for validating RF semi-anechoic chamber in 1 GHz – 18 GHz, in accordance with CISPR (International Special Committee on Radio Interference) 16-1-4 technical standard.

Coaxial Swept-Frequency VSWR Measurements Using Slotted Lines

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1968
A system is described using a sweep generator, a slotted line with a broad-band probe, a sliding load which can be coupled mechanically to the probe carriage, a logarithmic amplifier, and a read-out device which can measure the VSWR of coaxial components continuously versus frequency.

Influences of CUT on the VSWR of GTEM Cell

2009 20th International Zurich Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2009
The GTEM cell method to measuring shielding effectiveness is accepted by ANSI/SCTE48-3 2004, but there is no analysis of the influences of the introduction of cable under test(CUT) on the VSWR of GTEM cell, which will result in measure error. The influences of the size, position, shape and direction of CUT is analyzed by simulation, and the influences ...

Aircraft ATC Antenna VSWR On-wing Tester

2014
The reason of the ATC antenna failure is mostly the mismatch of the ATC transponder output impedance with the ATC Antenna impedance. The mismatch causes the increasement of the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) and the severe low efficiency of the emission (receive), then the ATC/TCAS system cannot working normally.

Precision Coaxial VSWR Measurements by Coupled Sliding-Load Technique

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1964
The method described employs a slotted line for VSWR measurement and a precision coaxial line as an impedance standard. A sliding load terminates the standard line during the process of transforming the impedance of the slotted line to that of the standard line.

GaN-HEMT VSWR Ruggedness and Amplifier Protection

2010
This paper presents the initial results in a study aimed at exploring the use of GaN-devices in applications where they are at risk of being exposed to high output voltage-standing-wave-ratio (VSWR) conditions. A measurement method developed to identify the limits of such stress is described together with the first results from measurements of novel ...
