Seventy-one silver fox and 141 blue fox cubs were exposed to constant visual contact with the farm environment from the age of 2 to 8 weeks. The exposure consisted in opening a door in the nest box facing the feed gang-way. Control cubs (33 silver and 77 blue foxes) were reared in similar but closed nest boxes.

[Crossing blue fox (Alopex lagopus) to red fox (Vulpes vulpes) using artificial insemination].
Nordisk veterinaermedicin, 1980An experiment with breeding red fox to blue fox by artificial insemination is described. The conception rate obtained was low. Of five blue fox vixens three whelped, and average litter size was 6.5. None of the six red fox vixens whelped. Examination of semen from the hybrid males showed aspermia.
