The Sustainability Wage Gap

Using administrative employer-employee matched data, we provide evidence that workers earn substantially lower wages in more sustainable firms. Examining both cross-sectional and time-series heterogeneity, we find that the wage gap is larger for high-skilled workers and increasing over time.

Gender Gaps in Early Wage Expectations

Using detailed data from a unique survey of high school graduates in Germany, we document a gender gap in expected full-time earnings of more than 15%. We apply a regression-compatible Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition and find that especially differences in coefficients help explain the gap.

Minimum wages and the gender wage gap

Estimates are made of the effect of minimum wages on the size and composition of the gender wage gap in Canada in 1986. It is found that minimum wages close the wage gap substantially for young workers and less so for adults. The reduction in the gap is most attributable to the adverse employment effects of minimum wages. The results also indicate that
