Enhanced Nonlinear Optical Absorption Properties and Carrier Dynamics of Violet Phosphorene by Oxidation for Ultrafast Photonic Applications

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of oxidation treatment on the nonlinear optical absorption properties and carrier dynamics of two‐dimensional violet phosphorene (VP), elucidating the underlying physical mechanisms. Furthermore, ultrashort laser pulses are achieved utilizing the enhanced saturation absorption and shortened carrier relaxation ...

Eating speed and abdominal adiposity in middle-aged adults: a cross-sectional study in Vietnam

open access: yesBMC Public Health, 2023
Background Several studies have associated fast eating speed with the risk of general obesity, but there are inadequate data on the association between eating speed and abdominal adiposity which may pose a higher threat to health than general obesity ...

Assessment of obesity among children aged 4’17 years using waist-to-height ratio and its correlation with blood pressure

open access: yesMRIMS Journal of Health Sciences, 2023
Background: A tool to detect overweight and obesity among children should be simple, reliable, valid, and cost-effective. There is a need to monitor obesity among children in different populations. For this, there should be only one tool that is accepted

WAIST-TO-HEIGHT RATIO INDEX OR THE PREDICTION OF OVERWEIGHT IN CHILDREN.

open access: yesRevista paulista de pediatria : orgao oficial da Sociedade de Pediatria de Sao Paulo, 2017
To identify a low-cost abdominal adiposity index that has a higher accuracy in predicting excess weight in children aged four to seven years old.A cross-sectional study with a sample of 257 children aged 4 to 7 years old. Indicators of abdominal adiposity assessed were: waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHR) and central fat percentage ...

Sensitive Period Analysis of Adulthood BMI and Cancer Risk: An Individual Participant Data Meta‐Analysis of Over 720,000 Participants in the ABACus 2 Consortium

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Over a dozen cancers have been associated with excess body mass index, primarily in mid‐to‐late adulthood. Whether obesity‐related cancer risk differs across adulthood remains unclear. Using the Sensitive Periods Model and super‐landmarking approaches, this study found that higher BMI increased obesity‐related cancer risk across ages 30–65.

Waist-based anthropometric measures and central adiposity-related comorbidities in children

open access: yesSouth African Family Practice
Background: Waist-related measures are commonly used to classify central adiposity and related comorbidities. This classification may be essential among children, as it may identify the risk of future non-communicable diseases.

Systemic and Local Adiposity in the Bone Marrow Microenvironment Associated With Improved Prognosis in Hodgkin Lymphoma: Imaging and Molecular Analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
Schematic overview of systemic and bone marrow‐specific adiposity in Hodgkin Lymphoma (HL). Body Mass Index was associated with bone marrow (BM) involvement, relapse, and mortality (1). In contrast, increased yellow marrow density was associated with poorer prognosis (2).

Indicators and Their Range of Values to Indicate Obesity

open access: yesJournal of Health Science and Medical Research (JHSMR), 2011
Obesity is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular diseases, along with being the important public health problem of Thailand. Health care professionals frequently use body mass index or waist circumference to screen for obesity, but there are ...

Nonlinear association of triglyceride‐glucose body mass index with all‐cause mortality in postmenopausal women, a retrospective cohort study: Evidence from the 2001 to 2014 National Health and nutrition examination survey

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The triglyceride‐glucose body mass index (TyG‐BMI) is a novel indicator combining an insulin resistance proxy (TyG index) with adiposity. It remains unclear how TyG‐BMI relates to long‐term mortality risk in postmenopausal women, a group prone to metabolic changes after menopause.
